Thoroughly enjoyed the insight from an author and historian dealing with the complexity of horrific events

Someone needs to go tell Him and his wife kids Grandchilden that back in July those people resigned and not only to visit the African Baptist Church in Richmond, Virginia but also House of Confederacy Clay Street. Have them Google it ty.

I walk the Brandy Station Battlefield area probably once every year for the last 20 years. Almost every time I think of people like Mr. Hall that made this possible. Many thanks!

Brilliant set of questions and answers! The personal relationships in the Union command was especially intriguing.

In the broader view, MacClellan reorganizes a jumble of two armies into an organized force, then repulses Lee's invasion of Maryland less than three weeks after Second Manassas. This accomplish can't be downplayed even though the ANV was a drastically hollow force at this time. It might be worth it to have a serious examination of the first ten days or so of September in Washington, where he shows up, looks at the wreck, and says "CUT THE SH!T!" Any huge task involves finding the right tool for the right job. He was a tool, all right, but the right one for that moment.

As a highly talented, adaptable, formidable, intelligent, fearless, ruthless, competent and pragmatic military commander and professional cavalryman, i greatly respect and admire general Forrest for his merits. *Nothing else.*

This was a lot of fun. In particular, it's interesting to contemplate how a lot of the "myths" started, grew stronger, and remain. Thanks for this. Dr. Chris: You are the ultimate CW host! 👍🏻

Mac failed to commit enough troops into battle to actually win said battle. With the knowledge the confederates weren’t at full strength. And you’re giving him high marks?

I know right, it's like these guys don't know anything. Just because they spent all those years critically examining primary sources, they think they know more than us?! When will these people learn that Stephen Sears and Gods and Generals are the ONLY story? Why can't they just be a smart as us?! Alrighty then, I got to go jump back on the you tube band wagon, others need me! People are starting to believe the earth is round. *Put's on my cape* Excelsior!

Not so much Grant -- eliminating armies -- as surrounding the army. The only one I can think of where the enemy army was destroyed rather than encircle and captured was Pap Thomas at Nashville...

It was fun to hear the thoughts and motivations for the public history at Atlanta's Civil War museum. I am employed as a professional park guide at a site with 300+ years of human history, so making choices concerning which stories to emphasize is constantly on the radar as public interest changes.

An impressive collection of books and memorabilia. As a photography collector myself, be careful not to have the wall mounted photos and documents exposed to direct or or strong reflected sunlight as they will fade over time.
