Sure you can also use equation of circle and solve simultaneously with the equation of the line. Then apply Pythagoras theorem to find z. Thanks for your input.

You can put the value into your calculator and it will give you the same answer or use the stand trigonometric triangle which I have used here in the question.

Fairly tricky question. Squares cannot be appended onto additions like that, which also puzzled me initially. After expanding the two brackets you will get 1 + 1 which is 2. Hence integrating it you will get a 2x extra.

I just did it the other way round just like you mentioned and I got exactly the same answer for the position vector of D. I guess you must be doing something wrong. Please give me your mobile phone number and I will send you a picture of the solution in which I have used AD and BC to obtain vector OD. Don't forget to include your country code in your phone number.

That's because one factor has already been given, that (x+2) and thus using it in a long division will give us the quotient which could then be factorised and equated to zero to find the other two solutions. However, you could also use synthetic division if you want.
