It's superb, isn't it? Why isn't it played more than it is?

I’ve known about this composer for some time however this is the first time hearing this symphony. Thanks for the upload, always good to discover different works, rarely if ever played and are worth listening to.

I love Janacek’s very individual style. Amazing work not often performed however looking forward to Jakub Hrusa conducting the Czech Philharmonic at the RAH/London this August, the ideal venue for this large scale composition.

@@stagedoro9560Michelangeli, from what I have gathered, was technically formidable and possessed of a smaller public repertoire. He has a devoted following to this day, but it’s likely smaller than Rubinstein’s. Rubinstein was a man of the world - and he played and lived with genuine gusto. Horowitz acknowledged Michelangeli’s greatness, but also said he was ‘meshuga’. Rubinstein greatly admired Pollini, but this was before the latter began working with Michelangeli, or am I mistaken? Rubinstein was not the wizard that Michelangeli was - but unlike the latter, his playing was warm and filled with zest and panache - maybe more so in his public performances than in his recordings. Michelangeli was a titan in a comparatively limited repertoire, but Rubinstein more than held his own - and he likely lived a far richer and more colorful life. 😃

This is THE reference recording of this work. Milstein “owns” it. Too bad it doesn’t get programmed anymore. It’s one of the most underrated concertos for violin. It takes a rare artist like Milstein to make it come alive. Thank you for sharing this recording! 🙏🏻🎻

This is one of those recordings that makes so many others pale in comparison, I listened to this for so long but lost my mp3 player that it was on, I searched through so many recordings for many years afterwards and was so happy to rediscover it. It was like coming home when I found it again

These are excellent performances of some true classis by Mendelssohn and Berlioz, wonderfully performed by the orchestra under its longtime principal conductor. The sound is remarkably good for 1952.

An overwhelming performance of one of Shostakovich's greatest pieces. The only way to make this quartet work is to play it as if every note in it is a matter of life or death.

Merci ! Le pianiste est magnifique... mais Brainin semble très vieux ou ivre...tant son jeu est peu soigné et grinçant ...
@stagedoro9560Ай бұрын
