My opinion: Sanken>Tascam>Sennheiser me2>Giant Squid. Now I'm going to see how cheap I can find that Tascam.. :)

can you plug the Sanken Cos11D straight into TASCAM DR10?

@@JoshuaStancea Which COS11D connection type did you buy? There's about 4-5 connection types, not sure which will fit the DR-10L...

Why is the sanken your favorite? I think it sounds mediocre compared to me2 and tascam dr

I actually thought the giant squid sounded the best. It seemed to be the best at isolating your voice. If you boost a bit of the high in post it would sound lovely. The others sounded a little brittle in the top end in my opinion. Did you do any post processing?

Thanks for the video! Do you have any tips on making the Sanken Cos11D sound less sibilant? It seems to be the best lav mic out there but I'm hesitant to buy it because it also seems to be astonishingly sibilant to the point of being almost unlistenable. Is this something that can be fixed in post, or by adjusting levels? Cheers! :)

The COS-11D is designed to pronounce the frequencies that are important for understanding dialogue - and yes, this means it can sound a little ‘nasal’ and sibilant. In your DAW, you will utilize an EQ to generally pull down the 700-900Hz range (nasal sounds), as well as the 4-7kHz range to reduce the sibilance. Even better, you can utilize a wide-band de-esser that will compress the 4-7kHz range only when sibilant expressions are detected.
