On that generator - have a bit of a filter through James Condon's channel. He had one to work on quite recently. It's clearly an American machine, made for the American market. It's 120v/240v 60Hz. Though it could be slowed down to 50Hz if necessary. However, unless it's going to be used where Hz frequency is critical, i.e. Synchronous clocks, or precision motors, 50Hz TV and video equipment etc, 60Hz will be fine. I think you'll find it is split phase, in other words 120-0-120 volts where neutral is at the 0, or centre tap, with 240 volts across the the two 120v terminals. So it's a floating neutral, which means you can have 240 or 120 volts as required. Now, James' machine was red, so if you want to look out the video, you can ignore all the other colours and styles of generators. However, be very careful if you need to work on the gen-end - There are a couple of electronic circuit boards that are unobtainable - if they get damaged, it's sionara for the machine. If i can find James' videos, I'll come back and drop in a link to them - they will be useful. Rose White/White Sapphire

To my eye, the belt alignment still doesn't look right. I was shouting at the screen, saying move the head stock, which you've caught on in the end. but that bit of metal by the side of it. Surely that's the belt tensioner. Is it not put on upside down? Maybe I'm wrong. I must admit, when I saw you go round the sail with your camera, I was quite envious being stuck up here in Scotland. Nowhere near the sail. There's a retired blacksmith. I could see lots of goodies there that I would have liked. Anyway, thanks for sharing your experiences. Very entertaining.

Adam that 60hz gen is for american use be careful plugging our appliances in which should be 240 50 hz some wont like 60hz!!
@jamesneale88535 сағат бұрын
Bear in mind that at 60 Hrz output that it's not the UK 50Hrz. However it should be fine for lighting. The box has been modified to give just 240 vac but it could easily be revamped to duel voltage again

Did you buy this much before you did u tube or are you buying to have content for your videos. Is it an obsession buying stuff that could get out of hand. I am moving far away and clearing so much i have collected its shocking. I think i may have had an adiction to stuff but now have no sentimentality for any of it strangely

Adam, that Sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) is concentrated chlorine bleach. That quantity was probably used in either swimming pool chlorination or Commercial industrial food prep area sanitation. Be careful handling and you may want to dilute it before using

The Gen has too many Hertz, I said about it in the look around video. To operate 50 Hertz you may consider an inverter which could produce 3 phase if you need it.

Sodium hydrochloride or chlorite is bleach used for swimming pools in many cases. Power factor 1 also called unity means that the rated output is for resistive loads only like lights or heaters it wont really like motors. When I first left school in 1969 I was an apprentice watch maker for a while, the man who had the business had a lathe that looked just like that one, it was made in Switzerland like most of the equipment he had. The cutting tools were all hand held on the tool rest, they looked a lot like the tools a wood turner would use but in miniature. The boss could turn a new balance staff for a watch in minuets with an accuracy of one ten thousands of an inch just by feel. The four inch discs will not fit a four and a half inch grinder as the center hole is smaller, 115 to 230 mm discs have the same size arbour but 100mm discs are smaller, I have two 100mm grinders as well as several bigger ones so know this well.

Adam, please do not oil or spray with WD40 on the Bendix. They run dry only. Oil causes problems on them.
@andycommon505023 сағат бұрын
Just be careful with your cutting and grinding discs as the compound can break down in them and you need to check the use by date that is on the silver washer part that attaches to your grinder, be safe mate.
