At 7:30, that’s got to be Proctor. Amazing. I’ve never heard him with such a grungy-sounding voice. He was making himself sound older than he really was, and he was no spring chicken at the time.

Curious how 1978 seems to be the year for the Residents acquaintance for so many people - all of a sudden, at least in Europe, ''rock's'' public opinion sort of engulfed them in the big Industrial framework that was gaining shape especially in Britain - but the group had nothing to do with the early TG, CV and HL, or even CdVA or the Normal. Even the ''difficult'' American names like DEVO, Pere Ubu, Suicide, NON, Smegma, and the others. The Residents were, in lack of a better explanation, an interdimensional group. At 15, in 1978, i was listening to the Residents on a late night radio show, on a nationwide station owned by the Lisbon See, a show named ''Rotação'' (Rotation), directed by mr António Sérgio (how many times have i quoted his name on yt...!) who was playing bits and sometimes doing long, well documented and narrated special numbers on Residents' albums. That's how I heard and taped ''3rd Reich and Roll''. The same when ''The Commercial Album '' came out in 1980. Those were the days.

That "WHAM WHAM!" is the only time I've heard Brian's voice be raised like that, even when he's frustrated... and it creeps me out. The fact that he talks about the fact that HIS DAD BEAT HIM AND HIS BROTHERS so casually is just... horrifying. Still. Imagine Murray, tonelessly singing his KFC songs in the knowledge his sons are the ones who wrote "Little Deuce Coupe", "Help Me, Rhonda", "Wouldn't it be Nice" and "Cabinessence".

"No Irishman can stop you from being dog killer this time - don't wolf your food, son"? I missed that line back when hot lumps, cold and lonely, whirled noiselessly through the black holes of space (i.e. the seventies). Anyway, brilliant video edit to go with brilliant comedy. Thanks.

I'm a California native. I live a stone's throw from Morro Bay where the mothballed PG&E facility is located. Salinas and Monterey aren't far away either. The lyrics sung by Al emanate from personal experiences in these pristine places of natural beauty and awe. Water is the theme throughout the saga, and seeing the beautiful blue Pacific from my home every day of my life, and experiencing firsthand these abundant places he sings about touches my heart. Great song, lyrics, and deeply spiritual for myself personally.

As we are close to Batman Day and the 85th anniversary of the character, i've got to say it's a beautiful feeling going back in time to contemplate what inspired Bill Finger and Bob Kane.

You gotta love Brian calling out "The Beach Boys" twice at the end of his song that he wrote and sang. So much love for that group in his heart.

About 13 years before this song came out, people were listening to How Much Is That Doggie in the Window. That must've been some 13 years.

A slight correction on that Willis O’Brien short story name. The Valley of the Mist , not Valley of the Misfits, as noted in Ray Harryhausen’s first film fantasy scrapbook.

Is the video from one or more of what are called the "The Teenagers" movies that Monogram churned out from 1946-48, if Katharine Coldiron, a great badfilm scholar, can be believed?
