My uncle was the pilot. He was a good man . He unfortunately he passed away recently but he left a legacy and he will be remembered for a long time. Paul Olav Larsen.

Glad uncle Bobby survived that wreck. Good to see and hear him since his passing. Yesterday's chopper 6 crash is a tragedy. My thoughts are with the families, friends and co-workers.

I'm assuming you're talking about Bob Kravitz..The pilot from the chopper 6 crash almost 20 years ago was my Uncle Paul. Paul Olav Larsen. He just passed away in March of this last year. It's tough to watch this video without crying

I actually thought Larry and Alicia were one of the better anchor teams in Philadelphia tv history (JMO). Unfortunately, off screen it was a different story. I hope both are doing well today.

Young Larry Kane, in the late 70s, was on his way to being the top anchor in New York, before he got driven outta town! New York's loss was Philly's game. I read his book, Larry Kane's Philadelphia. Great read!

Larry was with WFIL-TV/WPVI-TV when the "Action News" format was launched and held the main 6 & 11 PM anchor slot until going to WABC-TV in 1977; his spot being filled by Jim Gardner, who himself just recently retired after 46 years with WPVI-TV. My memories of Larry Kane was with WCAU-TV (when it was the CBS Owned and Operated station in Philly) before going to KYW-TV (when it was still an NBC affiliate owned by Westinghouse, before that company bought out CBS and sold WCAU-TV to General Electric, who owned NBC at that time and allowed the Peacock Network to have an O&O station in Philadelphia for the first time in 30 years; NBC outright owning Channel 3 as WRCV-TV until the FCC reversed the swap of KYW-TV and WRCV-TV due to RCA's - NBC's former owner - strong-arming Westinghouse to swap cities, being Philadelphia and Cleveland, with KYW-TV).

The rain fell as my sister delt another hand of rummy, love connection just started another episode. The wind picked up out of no where, The pelting of the rain against the windows pains with a sound of pebbles. Then there it was a cloud of ominous chaos connecting the earth with the sky bringing with a stampeding wind. The house wined creaked and cracked. The once familiar landscape littered with the remains of homes and materials that make up everyday life, tumber stuck in the ground like arrows. That was my experience a 10 year old living on lewis road in limerick that july summer night, etched in my memories and nightmares.

I was 13 years old when this happened and I met Dan Cuerall who did confirm with me that this chopper 6 was the one in the clip that he was in for promos for action news in the 90’s. Around the same time NBC 10 also had Chopper 10 was also a AS350 but was replaced eventually by their current chopper a Bell 206L IV Longranger called Skyforce 10. The point is that this helicopter that crashed was a older AS350 and it’s faa reg number has built in 1980 and has long since been scrapped.

This incarnation like the current one is also a Eurocopter/Airbus AS-350 I checked this Chopper 6’s reg number it was built in 1980 and also has been scrapped in 2012. This bird is long but they did get it back in the air before it was retired in favor the now long gone Bell 407 which was replaced by the current AS-350.
