The screammmm I let out when you mentioned a possible silent hill movie, I’m so excited!!! Even if it doesn’t come out this year I am looking forward to it. I think two of my top anticipated releases has to be 28 years later and Guillermo’s Frankenstein. I love Pan’s Labyrinth, most definitely is one of my favorite movies of all time so I always love to see more Guillermo del toro movies!

when they first announced the silent hill movie i was scared ngl LMAO but then they said who was directing and like i !!!! i cannot wait!!! but i will wait however long they need me to wait because i ahve been wanting this for SO long!!!! yes to 28 years later!! I need to re-watch the first 2 movies tbh but i remember watching the first one on DVD a lot (thank god for walmart 5 dollar bins TBH)

i feel like antonio banderas wa sable to sneak onto latam projects in the 80s/90s because ... idk i don't think there's a good excuse tbh but the fact that it's still happening in 2025 is kind of wild to me i have heard of ghost story omg!!! it's been on/off my watchlist for YEARS and i always forget to actually watch it. I'm going to add it to my february watches so i don't forget this year!!

When I heard about Presence, I also thought the same thing!!! How is this the first movie with this POV??? I love that premise though, I wanna see it. I recently learned that Barabarian was directed by one of the guys from the improv group Whitest Kids U Know, do you remember them???? That blew my mind when I discovered that. I loved Barbarian mostly cuz it felt so freaky and fresh and kept subverting my expectations. As someone who is already probably way too afraid of robots, I am also rly looking forward to Companion. I hope it's like the book Annie Bot. The first Silent Hill movie is honestly kinda perfect??? I love the story (even if it is different from the game) and ur so right Gans understood the assignment. You can tell he truly loves and respects the Silent Hill series. So, I felt the same way when I heard about Return to Silent Hill. And I'm still holding out some hope, but similar to the Frankenstein first look image you saw, the first look we've gotten for Return to Silent Hill looks........ rough 🥲 esp since we got the Silent Hill 2 remake game last year (which was a masterpiece and a near flawless remake imo), the bar for Return to Silent Hill is so high. Idk I rly wanna like it, but the difference with Silent Hill 2 is that I care a lot more about the characters and their performances than I did with the first Silent Hill movie. And the first look of James and Maria's performances is giving Silent Hill: Revelations 🥲 k bye love you

i don't even know what to add because i feel like you just opened up my brain and read all my thoughts LOL I'm literally scheduling my next couple of weekends to get into presence/companion/etc. etc. i'm so exciteddddd I haven't seen the Silent Hill 2 clip yet but ... now i'm scared like i need this movie ... silent hill will save me ..... LOL i gotta put trust in gans/del toro but like they're worrying me ... they're scaring me in a way i don't want to be scared LOL lov u more bye!

The Count of Monte Cristo!!!! It’s so fantastic. I highly recommended reading in tandem with an audiobook to help get through it because it’s veryyyy long and overwritten due to Dumas releasing it as a serial across a couple years and tried to make it stretch to make more money

When you talked about His Three Daughters in the movie video I resonated with that plot summary but didn't think much more of it. But now you've read Private Rites.. would you describe it as a true horror? Bc I am a scaredy cat but like... I saw King Lear on a whim last July... and my estranged dad died in November... and he had two other kids before me from his first marriage who I have had only sporadic contact with over the years... and I might have to read it and also watch that movie??

first sorry for your loss! I know they were estranged but a loss is a loss and there's still feelings to dissect and confront and that can be hard!! sending you love! second i don't think it's very TRUE horror. a lot of it is like climate change/natural disaster that is happening in the background and very real-life horror imo (i.e. displacement, destruction of home, one instance of suicide [someone jumps over the railing of a boat]) but nothing super paranormal/supernatural/jump-scare-y. the final act was a little more cult-y horror but it also didn't get super in depth that way either (that i would argue that MAYBE it wasn't totally necessary but again idk how it ended in the source material so i'm holding that judgement until further notice lol) so all that to say is I think you'll be fine?? and at least that movie is not horror at all, if you wanna start there first!

Very much agree about Nosferatu being about abuse, grooming, SA etc. Loved it tho. My wife took me to see challengers and I was blown away with the camera work and music and movie in general.

I think this has me deciding to read ghostroots real soon, my library got a copy earlier this year and i plopped it onto my ever growing tbr, and then forgot about it because my tbr, but I keep coming back to it cause I'll see the book cover which is so unique w the font, and also so cute. i didnt actually know it was a short story collection until now but that makes me more interested, esp since they were all winners to you👀glad you liked gaslight too, that cover is really pretty and I'm gonna add it to my ever growing tbr 👀 (also "2 days later but im wearing the same outfit" REAL.)

I read Whisper a couple years ago and wasn’t really a fan either. It started off super interesting but lost me halfway through. Which is a shame because I find that ends up happening to me with a lot of horror novels 😔

Your ”rant” about special editions was sooo spot on and I couldn’t agree more 👏🏼👏🏼 No one is immune to the allure of special editions but I really try to make the ones I get ”count”, if that makes any sense. What really soured me on speacial editions was the special editions of the comic Nimona, which was originally published FOR FREE online. Whe the Nimona movie came out, I was so excited to get a hard cover edition by Illumicrate of the original graphic novel, especially because my original soft cover version has the creator’s dead name on it…but lo and behold, only 2 years after the Illumicrate special edition was published, another even More Extra Special Anniversary Edition of the graphic novel is going to be published. The creator-who I really look up to-even wrote on the IG post announcing the special edition: ”It’s been a life long dream to have a shiny foiled cover on one of my books”… The Illumicrate special edition has foil on the cover? What?? And I know the creator knows this, because the book has BEEN SIGNED BY HIM??? I’m honestly so confused and frustrated by all this, it feels so much like a cynical cash grab and I don’t even know how much the authors/creators are at fault here and how much of this is the overwhelming, capitalist grind of the publishing industry 🥲

argh your tender is the flesh video.... that's how i originally found you and i'm so glad i did because i agree-- it feels like most responses to that book are completely one dimensional and completely ignore the actual sociopolitical climate that led to that work being written. and people are proud to ignore that context!!! that said, onto the topic of todays video: "i love to add to my tbr. lets make our tbrs super unmanagable together!" i added all but two books to my tbr from this video and the only reason i didnt add those last two is because they were already on my tbr 🫣 I'm also looking super forward to grady hendrix's new work, a few of my friends have gotten it early from netgalley and while they've said very little they said it feels like it has a more serious tone alongside everything else, which feels like a huge win for me w his work. I love how he balances everything too, and I love his mastery of writing really GROSS horror/gore scenes. Can't wait! Also this is how I learned about Agustina Bazterrica's new work, ouch man I can't wait for that one! The Blob sounds entirely way too good, I think that's gonna be one of my most anticipated too. wow wordiest comment ever! bro be yapping. have a great day!

@@maybeillreadtoday I can't remember if you've read Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires, but that one's actually my fav Grady Hendrix work and I hope the tone in his new one resembles the tone from that one. Friends have said that Wayward Girls has its goofy moments, but feels like it's handled with more seriousness, so that IS exciting. I really liked how dark and heavy the contents of Southern Bookclub's Guide were, and it made the graphic horror scenes all the more terrifying. I don't dislike his other horrors and I find that he's a great horror-comedy writer, but I'd love another serious work from him! I'd actually love to see him getting into writing, like... stage plays or something. I feel like his books are great for audiobooks and voice acting, so I'd love to see more varied adaptations of his work.

I have! I also enjoyed how that one was more serious but also NGL like was not expecting it at all because i was so use to the silly/campy stuff that I was like whoa ..................... did not realizing we were going this far this time ..... LOL I feel like every time I read one of his books, I end up googling whether he's ever done screenwriting because AGREE!! his books feel like they could just seamlessly turn into a movie/series (and i think at this point some of them have?) but I always forget the answer as soon as I pick up another book from him and have to go through the same cycle all over again

I'm always surprised when there's so little of his stuff adapted, but I hear he's got some adaptations in the works coming, and I really do think his novels would translate to a tv series very well. I'd love to hear more of his work in audio format too, maybe audio dramas or something 👀I really think he's got a great talent for writing dialogue and grotesque descriptions

aaahh the blue and white and pink looks like a lovely early morning sky! I am so impressed you managed to do both the socks. I started a scarf in 2020 that is literally just a rectangle and gave up half way through because it was too heavy and hurt my wrists to knit. still it sits in my pile of shame. I wonder if christmas stockings were invented by people who couldn't be bothered making the second sock? all that to say, wow! good job!!

Cannot wait to finish the Lord of The Rings trilogy with you this year!! I had an absolute blast and I never anticipated the rollercoaster of emotions nor becoming so invested in these characters and the world of Middle Earth. Before I started I was like "idk man as a fantasy reader LOTR is probably overhyped" anyways, I was proven wrong and Tolkien is an inspiration to just go crazy with your silly OCs and their silly world. Angela, you made this year one of my best reading years!!! I am excited to see the kinds of fun reads the new year will bring us! I got them from TIJN - fair warning the shipping takes a little while and the tracking number doesn't always update and so I DID think they got lost in the void but they did make their way to me eventually! lol
