Thank You! I know know my trailer has a 3 piece split rim and not the widdow maker. I do intend to replace the rims in time. I dont need that level of field recovery that these rims can provide. Glad a semi shop did my rims and tires!

I think the tire technology has also enabled single piece wheels.

NEXT TIME use Viton O-rings on your push rod tubes. Viton is good for high temperatures and do not harden or become brittle causing leaks. You snapped one in your video and the Viton stays flexibly.
@SealedBeamRallyTeam5 күн бұрын
Uh, I did use Viton

Thank you for being so detailed in your work and also for showing and narrating it. Very helpful for all of us needing to do the same with their Corvairs.

It’s so nice to see a young man learning by his mistakes, its the best way as you’ll won’t forget, as an retired aircraft engineer now into my 70’s that also started like you did back in the 60’s , it’s also a great feeling when you achieve your goal ie when you realise what was wrong and sorted it, well done and don’t forget we all started somewhere and move forward in our knowledge! Well done 😀😀👍

I had a concept for a Corvair powered hot rod with the engine in front (rotated 180 degrees) and transaxle in back, but, additional to custom fabrication for the driveshaft, I see the vent (with doors) shrouds would also require a lot of modifications? ;-)
@SealedBeamRallyTeam7 күн бұрын
You'd be in for a lot of work. You'd also have to choose a transaxle- perhaps Porsche 944 or Corvette. I think the Corvair engine turned backward and hooked up to a normal transmission would spin the wheels the correct way...?

Modifying longer wheel studs to fit the stock hubs so I can run slot mag wheels that take tires that are readily available instead of paying 3x as much for stock size Coker tires

Did you check your ring gap and orientation ?

Orientation is shown in the video. For some reason I neglected to check the ring gap. Guess I was hoping since it's all stock replacement, that it will be ok? Definitely wish I would have checked

Brake And Equipment Warehouse in Minneapolis was my main source for brake parts, although NAPA can get a lot for it. Factory service manual is necessary. Any specific problem you're having?

Thank you for the additional time it takes to film and edit videos like this. How is overheating with a rear air cooled engine in 100° summers?
@SealedBeamRallyTeam11 күн бұрын
Doing what I can :) I will report on cooling when it's on the road and I can put some miles on it, but it's rarely 100° in Minnesota

Great vid. Liked and Subscribed. This gave me the courage to order parts and change my 3rd member out of my 79 Bronco. Wondering about how much oil did it take to fill? Or how would you know its enough fluid in there?
@SealedBeamRallyTeam28 күн бұрын
That's awesome to hear. There is a level hole on the back side. Fill it until it comes out! You can look up your specific axle version but it looks like you'll want to buy about 3 quarts.

I admire your patience, you are only human to cope with frustration and anxiety, alcohol has been used since early biblical times, don't be so hard on yourself. Great work here. It would have been advantageous to have the engine mounted so you could rotate it 360 degrees as you worked on each side or surface.
