You make great points, id agree. I’d only caveat to say that it’s not completely impossible to avoid spoilers if you avoid the right online locations and navigate well.

@katelynholmes9504 True, staying away from every single spoiler or leak is impossible. And sadly hyv can’t catch every single leaker. I’d just say it’s best to just stay away from social medias like tiktok, youtube, or instagram, which tend to have the most leaker/spoiler content. It’s just sad that someone would have to go through all that just to enjoy the game.

Agree with some of your points. It’s odd that people will say combat and abyss doesn’t take that much time, but artifact farming and character training DOES take a lot of time, spread over multiple days. You can totally do that with lore too- a bit at a time- but lore is completely optional most of the time. I for one auto play quests while I do chores, and find that it doesn’t take up much of my free time at all, and I can still enjoy the story

a different perspective (I have a lot of regions on 100% and I will try to get 100% in everything in the game): I beg for a skip button because I got burnout of genshin seeing how many stuff I had to do + I have a life with a lot of mental and physical health and personal problems... I play since november 2020 and quited the game like 4 times (more than a year in real life) because of how overwhelming is having that much stuff to do. I've lost many weapons and two skins because of my burnout and genshin not letting me buy them (not talking about real money, I'm f2p) or redo the event to get these makes me sad, also counting characters reruns and that stuff. I quit because of mental health and I have to be punished for not playing the game every single day since I created an account and playing every single event without forgeting them. after xingqiu skin release, I can play (mainly) every day, not for more than 20-40 minutes (I really have a problem when it takes me more than 40 minutes because I have another stuff to do) and slowly made progress (I still have a lot of world quests and exploration to do, I'm really tired of the game and I don't quit because natlan is fun and we have xiangling's skin in the door), but sometimes I don't feel like playing for 3 hours just for a quest and this make me feel tired and more likely to quit the game again, saying this while I really like the story. not having a skip button is very bad for the game itself, and it's not like if you will suddenly be forced to skip if you want to. it gives tired players and people with less time and/or mental health or personal issues an option to play more of the game (we have a lot of stuff locked by quests). also, I don't have an impact on the story: my choices don't matter to the quest itself, and why the hell we have the entire albedo lore in an event. I just smash buttons when I need to any quest just for have another quest or other stuff, I don't pay attention to the dialogues, but I like the cutscenes and always watch it with a lot of passion. but sometimes I pay attention to the entire quest (like fontaine's, but I'm biased because I love investigation, and sumeru's), it's more about my mental health and the game itself punishing you for not playing the game every day + not letting you have a choice to see or not a quest that will consume your time and block some stuff.

@ bro this just sounds like burnout bro, if you dont feel like playing the game dont. I understand fomo but at the end of the day its just a game and not more important than your mental health or your real life. Genshin makes me extremely happy, i have been playing since launch. There was a time (sumeru) where i couldnt stand the game bcz of the dogshit exploration in sumeru and i stopped playing for a good 9 months. But I rediscovered the game and fell back in love. Js take a break bro

@@Deedoubled I said in my previous comment that I got burnout from genshin more than once and I gave myself a lot of breaks because of it. I play only 20-40 minutes a day (except days I need to do events, abyss, theatre, archon quest etc) to not feel much pressure in doing it. genshin is my confort game and I don't play when I don't feel like it, that's why I said I play mainly everyday. I know it's only a game and I don't act like genshin is a chore or think genshin is more important than my health or life. I just like having a routine and not following one give me a lot of distress. my problem with genshin is how much stuff you miss and need to do when you take a break for more than 2 or 3 patches (it's burnout inducing), and how much they slow down quality of life updates. having a skip button would be so beneficial and people who don't wanna skip won't skip, is that easy. like, I don't know if this was pacthed because this didn't happened with me again, but if you failed a battle in archon quest and need to do again, you literally need to rewatch the entire cutscene before the battle to do it again. (if this wasn't alredy patched) would be perfect to have a skip button. I really don't know why having a skip button or not is a debate. I have a horrendous amount of world quests to do and I don't wanna do them because of the length, the dialogues, the cutscenes etc and I will need to smash my mouse if I need them. I'm only doing the archon quests to be able to do the tribes quests and to get rewards. I don't wanna see the story right now, but I need (since the extra rewards from doing it in a specific time) because I'm f2p and every reward is a great reward for my account and save a lot of time. I can see the story later, it's not a problem having a skip button. other hoyoverse games have it, wuwa have it, soulslike games have the entire story hidden in items and you can even skip entire locations with optional bosses (that the devs put so much effort in it, since this is somehow an argumment) if you want. a skip button is the bare minimium in a game with more than 60 hours worth of quests (with smashing to skip dialogues and watching cutscenes, since you can't skip it) that will lock you from a bunch of stuff if you don't do them.

Your points are great and I agree. If we had to compromise, I’d say that there’d be special rewards during the quest for people who actually go through it that would be unavailable for the final rewards for people who skip. That way, there’s something to entice players who are undecided about whether or not to do the story. Skipping players would get some rewards but not those. That way, an incentive still exists for most people to clear the story despite the time demand if a skip button existed
