Love John Stahl's Back Street and Only Yesterday. He has a way of directing that is romantic but not overly sentimental. The two death scenes in Back Street are heartbreaking...

Thanks for the reminder! Correct to say he din't get the adulation the Holy Trinity, as you say, but he wasn't a scape goat! The crowd could turn on anyone!. I was there when he broke his leg and true to the man's ability and heart, he scored as he did it!

Lovely tribute. She was my great Aunt Mabel’s sister (I only found out going through her family photos after my mum died and I got all of Mabel’s photos and letters! I wonder if they fell out at some point as mum never mentioned it?? Families are strange. I’d have loved to have met her, but she lived in the US and my Aunt lived up near Liverpool. Gladys lived a pretty ‘emancipated’ life! THREE husbands! (Did you know her 1st husband, (Lord or Baron Buckfast) was a bit of a legend? He invented the Buck’s Fizz !! Sadly their son, John, committed suic1de💔 Their eldest daughter, Joan, married the famous actor, Robert Morley. Gladys’ youngest daughter with her 2nd husband, Sally Cooper, was married to another famous actor called Robert, Robert Hardy! (He left his 1st wife and child for her, then had 2 daughters with Sally. They then divorced very close to their 25th wedding anniversary!! (He was a very naughty boy🙄 Loved the ladies😵) Loving finding this stuff out!! Wish I’d known 40 years ago when Mum was pushing me to go to RADA!! (she COULDN’T have known, no way would she not have mentioned Gladys Cooper was her Aunt, even if it was by marriage! She was incredibly close to Mabel and her husband (Mum’s dad’s brother, pretty much raised her after her dad died when mum was around 12🥹)

Harry is one of my all-time favorites. I was in my mid 20's when I started watching movies from the 30's & 40's. I was always delighted to find Harry playing a role in a "new-to-me" movie. Hope to thank him personally for the many times he impressed me. Thank you for posting and Happy New Year!

I used to watch Coral Atkins is 'A Family At War'. She turned her back on fame and fortune to open a home for severely traumatized children. What a beautiful soul she was..........rest in peace dear lady.

I lived at Penthouse North with Agneta when she had her baby She was always creative and began sewing. She gave great parties and made Johnson's delight. We never lost touch until she returned to Sweden. Her life was about loving her child and wood to provide stability. I miss her, especially when the anniversary of her passing is right after Christmas and before the start of a new year She was so kind and so beautiful and life was not easy Aggie will live in my ❤ always

I just watched the MASH episode where he surrenders to all the guys when their bus breaks down and he fixes the bus. He was so adorable. I've seen him in several MASH episodes, but I don't think I've seen him in any of his evil roles.

He surrenders to Hawkeye and B.J. in a later episode too.
