Hey Daniel , on July 2nd 2023 my dad Barry passed away. The day after I heard this song on the radio and broke down into tears . My mum was my dad soul mate, 11 years ago she had a stroke which caused permanent damage to the left side of her brain which caused aphasia which means she can’t speak properly, it’s like when your trying to think of someone’s name or movie tittle and it’s on the tip of your tongue but you just can’t get it? That’s what every word is like to say for her. A few weeks after her stroke while she was recovering dad was going in every day from breakfast time where he would feed her then read or talk to her then feed her lunch then he would go for a walk while she rested then he would come back sit with her for a few hours then my brother and I would take over. One night a few days before mum was to come home dad had a heart attack and ended up in hospital. The drs told dad that the heart attack wasn’t caused by a blockage like a normal heart attack but was caused by what the call “broken heart syndrome” which means he was so worried about my mum it caused him to have a heart attack. Dad recovered but mum never got her voice back , but that didn’t matter to my dad he called my mum Ann , “his Annie “ he looked after mum loved her unconditionally put a smile on her face everyday and before he passed away I promised him I would take care of her . And I have. So amongst other lyrics in the song in your , where is says “ I saw the way she looked into your eyes and I promise if you go I’ll make sure she’s alright “ really resonates with me because that’s the last words I promised him before he passed away. I listened/ still listen to this song everyday it has helped me so much over the last 12 months , today is my dad’s birthday and I just want to say thankyou. And on November 6th I will be at your concert hopefully down the front!. Just looke for me I’ll be the one crying while singing your song lol thankyou even though you didn’t know it but you have help me get through such a hard time in my life and for that I’ll be forever grateful ❤ Cheers shell x
