Hot Creek was very popular for soaking and swimming until it closed for that in 2006. I went there many times over many years with friends before it closed.

Serene and beautiful, but the water must be brutally cold at this time of the year. You must be the bravest paddle-boarder in Lake Tahoe!

If you are camping, be careful where and how you leave your food. There are some bears around.

The view from the top of Mt. Whitney is quite spectacular. Of course, you have to hike a big and steep climb to get there.

What a beautiful hike. Another area you may want to explore are the High Sierras of California. You'll find many gorgeous hikes around Lake Tahoe or in the high country of eastern Cal.
