Transistor 13001 is the worst choice for a audio amplifier, because it's small and easily overheated. The best transistor Choice is 13003, 13005, 13007, TIP41,

I've got a simple audio wiring question and this looks like a good place to put it. I have a 1/4" audio jack on the back of a monitor that I want to use to drive a pair of powered stereo speakers and a separate powered subwoofer. I'm using a simple 1/4" y-splitter to give me 2 stereo outputs from the monitor output jack. One side feeds the primary speakers and the other side feeds the subwoofer. To mix the stereo signal for the subwoofer, I combined the left and right wires and soldered them together, using the one ground wire for both. My problem is that the mono signal created by physically mixing the left and right channels for the subwoofer ALSO mixes the other side of the 1/4" y-splitter. This causes the stereo speakers to produce mono sound. I want to somehow isolate the signals after leaving the y-splitter. The issue became obvious after discovering it... electronics are not one-way... unless forced to be. The question then becomes, how should I split a stereo signal into two stereo signals and then mix ONLY ONE of the two into mono without affecting the other? Is it possible to use diodes to isolate the two outputs? How else should we approach this problem? Any comments, from anybody, would be appreciated. Thanks.
