In flight restart of 2 engines at the same time not a normal procedure, just showoff.

i worked at that airshow for Coors Distributing. Good times. My friend who's ex-air force never talks about the spy plane. i vaguely remember seeing them so i could've been asked to help barbeque for the people when they brought them out.

My old man transitioned VP 50 from the P5, NAS North Island to the P3A at NAS Moffett in the late 60s. He was later squadron commander and took 50 to Viet Nam. He loved that aircraft.

OMG! that looks like an Alpha mode with the fixture under the port wing. I flew in B-Mods with VP-31 and VP-6 80-84 and that wasn't part of the package. More important and to the point, the old airframe preformed brillliantly and Thanks for the memory,

I remember this air show well. I got stuck giving tours inside one of our P3C Update 3’s on the ground. I was in VP-47 from 1986-1990
@grahambambeck745211 ай бұрын
Sir, you were very likely the man who was there when a 7 year old boy and his dad stepped into that aircraft that very day. The P3 was my favorite plane for 2 reasons. The stinger at the tail and our Neighbor Bruce Mallibert talking about his experience in the aircraft. I'm willing to bet you were just inside the door as I stepped into that plane. And I think that is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!
@carlreich11 ай бұрын
I WAS at the top of the ladder welcoming people and providing tours inside. Coincidentally, I was the operator of what you refer to as the “stinger” at the back of the aircraft, Magnetic Anomaly Detection (MAD) system. It’s nice to know that I was able to be part of a positive lifelong memory. Thank you.

@carlreich Sir, I have never forgotten you. I hit my shin walking up and had a slip of words that earned me a smack on the back of my head from my dad. You made a comment and he laughed, could have been his comment and you laughed. I don't recall exactly. I mentioned the MAD (Stinger lol) being my favorite part and you seemed proud of that. I'm so happy I was able to share this with you after so many years. It's truly a pleasure!

What's ever going to happened to the C-133 at Chanute AFB when the base museum closed? The B-36 was disassembled and shipped to Castle AFB for their museum and many other planes were shipped away as well. But the C-133 and an EC-121 can be seen rotting away on google maps with some other orphans from the failed museum.
