You have to stand on platform to get on disk it was dodgy. But was a cheat you could get special key then just jump off at right location and blow up computer . Ahead of it's time though

Definitely looks like MSX not NES. The choppy vertical scrolling gives it away.

When you set off you have to keep the spacebar/fire button held down. If you let go, then pressing left or right to keep the ship under control doesn't work. When you're at top speed you hold the down direction to lift off and have to keep it held until you reach the stars

The Spectrum version of this was almost literally unplayable. Nice to see what it's supposed to do, even if it's still rubbish.

How the game actually works. Your objective. pick up the circular artifacts, and deliver them to a station on the map. at first only one type of station is shown but after the map expands, it will show the other type too. Destroying those things that float around in a diagonal pattern decreases your radiation gauge significantly. do that as much as possible. slow down to do this, then speed back up until you find an item. you CANNOT speed up without jumping. This very much matters, as at times you will be forced to creep slowly under an overhang. If you die, you lose everything you are carrying. but the bonus you get from delivery is better if you deliver more at once. Heave Metal slows the rate of radiation gain until you die. Beam Shield blocks the beams from the enemies. lasts until you die Scrambler blocks them from tracking you. Lasts until you die. Deradiator is single use and sets your radiation level to zero. Delivering to one of the types of station grants radiation immunity (meter stops going up, but still goes down for blasting the floaty things). the other type grants immunity to the enemies. Both last until the counter hits zero, or you die. Areas you have already cleared are empty, and have a very high radiation amount. The closer to red the area you are goin through is, the higher the radiation level. Black is super high. So you need to AVOID retracing your steps as much as possible. when you reach the top of the map, you get send back to start, the map expands, and you get a point bonus for each black area. as you get higher on the map the enemies get meaner (but a beam shield and scrambler prevents that from mattering, and the terrain gets trickier to deal with (nothing helps against that, not even the "invincibility", you still crash into walls). Death high up on the map is incredibly hard to recover from, if it doesn't lose you enough artifacts to make the game unwinnable outright, as you lose your protection and get pwned by the nasty enemies and high radiation levels.

wow! very faithful, music abd some SFX are just a tiny little bit out but superb for the home scene - back in the late 80s this would have been legendary

I have played this game with the controller upside down due to way it was configured. Down went up and Up went down. Probley not any different to reversing the hotbar on FFXIV to play on the keyboard.

Japanese Game Programmers were good! It is amazing what could achieve in a 8-bit machine!

"This game is quite fun and chill," 10 year old me definitely didn't think so. I found this game so frustrating to play, though a big part of that was taking time to adjust to the "down is up" mechanic of pulling down on the stick to pull the nose of your airplane up.

Has there ever been a real Amiga capable of really playing this smooth? I remember it was even still jaggy on my A4000 with 66mhz 68060.
