I really can almost tell no difference every once in a while it looks slightly granier on 1080p than it does in 4k but beyond that it's almost identical to me

Trying to do some video content and I knew I probably wanted my shutter at 2x the frame rate, but I didn't quite understand why. You, sir, solved the mystery for me. Thanks!

I generally follow the 180 deal if my video has a lot of fast motion, but for my talking head and interviews I don't worry about it. If no motion, motion blur isn't an issue. Use it where you need it. Great show and comparisons. Cheers

If we are only able to view on a 1080 screen, how can we tell the comparisons . Isn't' that an issue here as well? Its the same issue when we are listening to a strad $1,000,000 violin vs an Amazon $200 violin online using our tiny ear phones. Who can tell the difference there? No one !!

Watched this to see if I should get a 2k or a 4k monitor, watched it on 4k on my iPhone 15 and I can notice the difference on the further trees, not the really close ones, when it switches to 1080p you can really see the pixels pop up and they look so bad like the noise level is SO high, but that’s if you’re LOOKING for it, other than that everything else looks pretty good to me unless you really zoom in to look for details, this helped me to make my decision and I think there won’t be much of a difference between 2k and 4k especially on a 27 inch monitor, so I’m getting 2k.

I always wondered why my cpu would spike during action scenes watching Plex. I understood it for games but I had a hard time imaging why it would affect a video. Thank you!

Wondering what the frame rates are. Watching on a Optima 37 projector in 4k 30fps on a 125" screen there is a very noticeable difference.

I couldn't tell a difference in any of them on a 1080p monitor (I may try on a 4K later). But I'd note I think it's good to get in the habit of capturing in 4K for the sake of future proofing, whether you livestream/record/edit in 1080p or keep 4K for any particular production. And I think that even now in 2025, it still makes most sense for most creators to stick with 1080p for most presentations. But who knows how much longer that will hold?
@StefenTower20 күн бұрын
On 720p, there seemed to be no differences, but on 1080p, there was marginal visual improvements in some of the B's.

this video is good but at 3:40 i disliked cause i don't think you can GUARANTEE that an impromtpu video will be bad, you can say "it MAY be bad if a story doesnt emerge along the way" imma keep watching the video though it was really good so far

Great video for all the post-millenial digital videographers who never bothered to learn to be photographers first. Yet another example of the many things you can't do in post processing. One critique...it's not really possible to explain polarization without explaining photon polarity. It's not that complicated, it's one of the most fundamental physical properties of light.

i would like to say that this video is REALLY INFORMATIVE!!! I just have a question, I am an amateur sports videographer shooting hockey games, I use 70-200 2.8 lens, does switching focal lengths requires me to change shutter speed as well? I shoot 60 fps all the time. Thank you!

For KZbin it's almost required that the final upload is in 4K, so KZbin gives the video more bitrate. Even if you master in 1080p or 1440p it's almost a requirement to upscale before uploading. It's less important that the video is mastered in 4K. You barely notice a difference on small screens. But for people watching on a 4K TV it does make a difference.
@StefenTower20 күн бұрын
When you say "almost a requirement", do you mean "for best results"?
@kwinzman20 күн бұрын
@@StefenTower I would claim it's "almost a requirement for acceptable results". But your opinion my differ. Thanks for the reply!

I can definately tell, 1080 is watchable, but 4k is just pin sharp in comparison. I'm on a MacBook Pro 15" with a 1800 x 2880 display, so I expect on a 4k display will be even more obvious.

I barely can see any difference and the figures are just so much,if 1080p,then 4k should have been called 2090p,and why 4k when the difference is barely noticeable,am watching from iphone 13

Hello, James and those who follow....you asked if we had any questions so I'm commenting one on color / camera matching in a multi-camera shoot. I've been searching for videos that would highlight this workflow but haven't seen one yet. I use 3+ GH6 Cameras on a run-n-gun style shoot scripted reality show. Record in .mp4 Rec709 4K UHD 8 bit. With that said, you and others are going to have a field day commenting on that workflow but the good news is we have produced a reputable Discovery Channel program and it's going on it's 4th season now. The post production team, that's the producer and me are making changes. Camera matching and color grading with a better codec for start. Meanwhile, here is the question. I work with DaVinci Resolve 19.1.2 Build 3 and loving the fact there is an easy way to match and color grade by using a simple chart for starters. We've been grading by eye if that explains how "old school" we are. I see how you would use a chart to match the colors, but what if you have more than one camera on set?? I assume the same technique and create nodes of minor adjustments like color and saturation. The only variable is exposure / lens. Anyone is welcome to advise, please just keep it on topic. Facts not opinions please. Link me to videos that show how would be great! Thanks all!

Hey, nice content! What do you think that youtube recommends using 8mb/s for 24,25 and 30fps 1080 videos? Is the standard 8mbs and maximum 16mbs enough, or does the quality suffer and should you I 12mbs and 24mbs?
@D29.H45Ай бұрын
what if i dont have a color checker, is there a way to match it? i couldn't find the same color here I'd be great if someone redoes this but using more specific swatches and explaining from which brand is it

Would not be better to simply pick similar colors and tones and then under ideal lighting calibrate a color profile to that specific set of colors? That way you have accurate colors regardless of how accurate are they compared to the real color checker.
