My family lived in Exeter City Council house for 75 years. I had to look after my dad battle cancer for three years who died in my arms for access. City Council told me to get out of my family home and they didn’t offer me nowhere else to live so now I’m living in the back of my van looking at my family home thank you for ruining my life and everyone everyone around me don’t trust Exeter City Council they are full of shit.

Naughty Naughty Yvonne!! Red with embarrassment perhaps? Yvonne Atkinson was already letting property on AirBnB when she was first elected to Devon County Council’s Alphington & Cowick division in May 2017, and continued to do so after first being elected to Exeter City Council’s Alphington ward in May 2019. She lives in a five storey grade-II listed Georgian town house in a conservation area near Belmont Park, on the opposite side of the city from the people she represents. According to her AirBnB listing there is a self-contained flat in the basement with “living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom”. A converted garage at the rear of the house is “like a studio apartment” according to one guest and has “all the amenities we would expect to have: cooking hob, microwave, toaster, kettle” with a “bed, TV set [and] shower room” according to another, although the “toilet is a bit noisy” according to a third. While planning permission was granted in May 2015 to replace the roof of this garage, and add garden-facing doors and a window, there is no record of permission for change of use or conversion to a living space on the city council’s website. exeterobserver.org/2023/05/25/exeter-councillor-yvonne-atkinson-code-of-conduct-breach-escapes-prosecution-rental-property-interests-devon-cornwall-police-investigation-crown-prosecution-service-devon-county-council-withheld-minutes-local-elections-campaign/

Maybe they can get the long distance coach services (National Express etc) back into the new bus station just like it used to be in the old bus station. Much better than the two miserable leaky, drafty glass boxes that are on Bampfylde Street. I'd love to know who was behind this "transport planning".

This is excellent in its intention, and praiseworthy for the individuals being properly miked up where not long ago they were often audible because of distance. However... but... the web launching is poor to the point where it's nigh impossible to follow what's said - and the auto captioning struggles as much as I do! Do please give your techs, or the telecoms provider, a nudge. I'm sure the issue is not my end because I'm on two weekly Zooms with people across the globe and only very rarely does anybody's sound degrade to this extent.

The council does next to nothing to service and maintain our allotment site yet they want more money!? Leave out the vanity projects ( failed building development company springs to mind) and give some service that you are supposed to give to the already negleted allotment sites.
@AllotmentFamilyDiary8 ай бұрын
No, the reality of it is that the council do next to nothing to maintain their allotment sites. As longstanding residents we can count the times we’ve seen the council working on the site on one hand. You initially gave a three week consultation period, which went against your six week rule. You only extended this because our committees called you out for trying to pull the wool over people’s eyes. Our allotment toilet is closed now because you have failed to empty or maintain it for several years, the access roads are damaging cars, the security is laughable where we have suffered four break ins in the last few years. We would accept a modest increase if you were fulfilling your contractual obligations with the tenants, however you are not. We look forward to the council fulfilling its obligations after the rent increase (you are implementing over two years), and showing the public what positive actions you take via our KZbin channel. Forever watching and documenting, AFD.

Outsourcing essential public services to charities that are overstretched and underfunded, then underfunding those charities. Its a scandel. Things are falling apart for people in our communities and we plod on with the status quo at our peril.

It is so sad to see people normalising the cuts that we're seeing. There is plenty of money. We're the 5th or 9th richest country in the world depending on which metric you use. Tax is not taken from the rich but is taken from the poor and from community services. People here are just accepting it as inevitable. As if the crumbs of funding being offered is somehow a good thing. I'm losing my job because funding is being cut, as are swathes of excellent professionals supporting vulnerable people. These cuts will kill people and make countless people's lives miserable and its totally avoidable if people had a bit more courage

What's the tare of the vehicle as must be heavier than a diesel vehicle hence less payload as gross should be 26 ton
‘Co-living’ is just unaffordable student accommodation in another name. Neglected to mention how Exeter City Council has dug itself a financial hole through Labour councillors’ lack of transparency, accountability, or scrutiny of council officer's plans.

The planning department doesn’t and hasn’t cared about the city for years. Who wants Exeter to look like every other city? Exeter has a medieval foot print and a history going back from before records began. Absolutely shameful that an elected council can be coerced into ignoring the voice of the electorate by it’s leader

Why have a meeting when the decision was already made? Just put through Water Lane now and save residents the agony of thinking they have a voice. And then you can build 8 storeys on the shops on Exe Bridges and make the whole of St Thomas unbearable. Still, at least the scrubland in Alphington will be safe.
