Good exercise in seeing what the built-in amp sim is capable of. In the end we decided we're better off using pedals or computer based amp-sims normally but knowing there is a usable marshall sound in there is good to have in your back pocket if something happens to amp or amp-sim during a show.

Thanks for recording this. I don't have a SansAmp, instead I run my bass into a Victory Kraken V4, which is a tube preamp pedal, and then into a mixer and out via Kali LP-8 monitors and a good subwoofer. Sounds great together. I just use the stock presets, but was considering looking into it they have better bass simulations for download.

Loved your sonic inspection, I'm getting more and more curious about the Torpedo too. I used to avoid AMT pedals because of negative reviews, but I've come to appreciate their quality. Their pedals are durable and well-built, lasting through the years without any problems. I recently used their TH1 (Tube Hall) in a video, and it really stood out. Your review has inspired me to look for more AMT pedals.

I got two of these. got 2 secondhand for way less than one. The setting must be under 12 o'clock to be clean, maybe a little lower even. above that it doesnt get louder it gets compressed and distorted (simulating a tube power amp) So i set it to around 11oclock and use two of them in stereo. Use you modeller volume to suit. I also rewired my cab to be 2 x 8ohm. 2 inputs No you cant hear the wide stereo but the stereo effects like off timed delays and reverbs ARE clearer. plus as a bonus i got 88 clean watts.

Thanks for the video share I was really curious how the onboard DigiTech amp sims sounded on this mixer.

The preamp of tonelab is better maybe because of the tube. For the cab, of course the helix is better because it's a more advance tech, the IR which not only emulate the eq of a speaker but also the air and dimension between the cab and mic. So my conclusion is the tonelab is a powerful preamp and for the cab sim, there are so many options now from single pedal to more complicated one

This UI24r makes me think incredibly that you don't necessarily need effect pad as a guitarist if you can do this directly in the mixer. It's a beast for me.
@Da_Publick5 ай бұрын
It's about cost these days. A well-made tube amplifier simply sounds better, at least with high gain. But they're more fragile, and need to be replaced far more frequently.

Is there a way to control the effects on an off without having to go through snapshots of the entire mix? Possibly via midi somehow?

No hay ningún pre especifico para bajo, solo el bassman que suena bien con una cabina que tiene para bajo, aunque he probado otros amps y cabinas de guitarra y suenan muy bien, si no lees el nombre te pueden engañar 😆

I have both and the Helix is just exquisite to use and so intuitive. The Tonelab is fine for the price.But not in 2024. So much more out there now for the budget minded.

I noticed the presence knob on the Marshall was at ~70%. I might be wrong, but I think a better comparison would be if it was at 0%, since it's part of the power amp
@taylolz7 ай бұрын
Maybe, but that would remove the best feature of a tube power amp and make it sound worse. The pedal may sound unrealistically better by comparison.
@squiresuzuki7 ай бұрын
@@taylolz Ah, I had assumed he was using an amp modeler, which would probably include presence modeling, so having presence twice in the chain would be weird. But now I see it looks like he's just using normal pedals.

I had M2. Very squeaky and sharp sound. Lots of ringing. On low gain settings it sounds disgusting. On the gain after 14.00 - 15.00 sounds good. But with humbuckers. Doesn't work well with single-coil pickups. I was hoping to get the tone and character of Plexi at low gain. I severely broke off. He's not even around there. There is not even close to this timbre and character.

I was running an old digitech multi fx pedal . Cheap shit but great if you know how to dial in tones. The benefit of this setup is the signal is already gained up to line level from the pre amp of the digitek so you won't get all that noise people complain about and it's loud as all get out. It would push my 412 louder than you would ever need or could tolerate. The mag pedal is turned up to about 20 percent or less. Only tickled. The multi fx has built in noise gate options so it will go completely silent if you want. No humming or bull shit noise. I'm getting ready to run a new setup using a small vypr amp 20 watts hooked up in stereo with the 44 mag pushing a small cab. Should be awesome. Light weight, endless tone options and the ability to get loud as shit, and a wide stereo field.
