Real country died somewhere in the 90s with the Garth Brooks mania. Then sex appeal was everything. We will never see another Merle or Willie or Hank or the Judd's or R. Travis.

I think I get it. My heart will always belong to the marshes and swamps and live oaks, but for the first time in thirty years I'm getting claustrophobic. I'd like to see a real sunset in person some day.

I bought my first Stetson because of this song in 2004. I'm wearing it in my profile pic. Picture taken tonight 11/26/24. Thanks for the memories, Mr. LeDoux.

This is where real "cowboy country" comes from, around a roundup camp fire. Today's POSER supposed country music is trash only meant for the trash heap/burnpit. I use to once cowboy, ranch'n, green break rough stock, round up, head/ heel, brand livestock. Even on spare time rodeo'd saddle/ bareback broncs, bull ride'n, roped, wrestled, all after getn out of the military. It's a life of cowboy'n, which Chris Ledoux also used to do. Real country music is probably gone forever in mass, even though there is still some good country music writers, performers today, but very few & far in between. HOOAH!!

I hated country music! I was on a Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, out in the middle of nowhere in Wyoming, and knocked on his door not knowing it at the time. Peggy answered and we introduced ourselves, she turned and called up to Chris to come to the door. He called back "I need my hat". We chatted with him and my companion knew who he was so we got a photo with him. I did not know who he was nor did I care, I was just impressed with how kind and genuine he was. He had a good spirit about him. Literally Chris was the kindest person I met in the two years in Wyoming, South and North Dakota, Minnesota, and Nebraska! I bought his greatest hits album and I was hooked. I next found George Strait and the rest is history.

We went back to visit with 8x10 prints of the photo and found him up a ladder working on his barn. He came down off the ladder to meet us and we chatted for a bit then showed him the prints. He reached into his boot and pulled out a sharpie marker! He had it ready... He signed our photos and it is still a keepsake to this day.

he reminds me of Chris Christofferson, perhaps not world class vocals but world class delivery, authenticity, and could perform a show better than anybody, Garth Brooks copied his showmanship skills. The songs that Chris wrote only he could sing with such power and conviction. One of my favorite country artists all time.

I was a bouncer at a country concert for Chris Ladeux. I’d never heard of him and wasn’t a country fan. I was stage security and he noted I wasn’t paying attention and looked bored and called me out in front of everyone… everyone, crowd and all!!! Then he played this!! It was awesome… I was a fan from then on
