Can anyone explain why is she called Plavalaguna in the movie? Because those are serbian words plava - meaning blue and laguna - lagoon. I have watched this movie for about 10 times but this is the first time i notice that.. any theories? Thanks.

Daniel There's Lindsey Stirling. She's a violinist who adds in a bit of dubstep. Not as much as this song, but I know that her song Crystallize has a nice balance.

Look for Yma Sumac and listen to it. Yma hit everything, and with no train. Raw as nature best gift. Some said that they match this singer with Yma Sumac's voice for the movie. I am not sure but I can believe it. Greetings from Perú😉

The music was outdated when the movie was new, lol. (I remember because I was cringing then, too.) I suppose it was to add to the overall campiness of the film and the retro sci-fi feel they had.

+LATONYA SMITH I believe it is Italian. It is a drama tragico (tragic opera) written by Gaetano Donizetti in 1835 This piece is the famous "Mad Scene" from act 3, Scene 1. . The Italian libretto was written by Salvadore Cammarano. All the notes are possible for a diva to hit. As evidenced by Inva Mula

when the movie first came out, Inva Mula was interviewed about her contribution, I don't recall who did the interview. She explained that portions of the non Donizetti section were altered post-production to increase the range to 'plavalaguna' standard.
