That makes sense. Each frame is just a snapshot, or still image. When the images are shown in sequence, the more images per second (frames per second) give a smoother video. But the frames, given the same shutter speed and aperture, should be the same in all examples. I found your chart interesting. 20 fps actually uses slightly more storage than 30 fps. And 12 fps used even more storage. Is that because the camera is capable of storing just the pixel differences between frames? If so, that would explain it, as the slower frame rate would have more pixel differences from one frame to the next.

@9:05 is probably the easiest way to find the speed setting for playback, click the speed icon at the bottom first and then the speed setting should be shown with the video. It doesn't need enabling. Hope this helps.

All good, but what you said at the end not to blind cameras because this could end you in trouble, is incorrect. There's no law against blinding cameras. You'll end up in trouble if you do something illegal while blinding the camera, but if you just blind the camera .

You didn't answer the question you asked, and just because NVRs don't have NVME doesn't mean a SATA interface SSD wouldn't be more stable, consume less power, or handle FIFO rich data more quickly. This is not my expertise but you spent all your energy on video editing. Please just teach me something

Depending on the system they should be able to change their intrusion zones so that it doesn't trigger for you or people your property. I would definitely ask them about that.

Rather than lowering the bit rate etc after spending money on the top camera am I not just better upgrading the storage capacity than lowering waisting the image quality I paid for? It’s not meant to be a funny question but it’s what I’m thinking. Your thoughts?

You're not wrong - that's exactly how I think about it too. However, there is a point of diminishing returns. For example, setting the bitrate from 4096 Kb/s to 8192 Kb/s may result in a 5-10% image quality improvement but consume twice the storage. So, it's all about optimizing it for your needs and requirements.

Shining lasers on or around reflective surfaces can cause instant eye damage. Green lasers are notorious for this so please wear the appropriate safety glasses.

I would just like to know how I can find a camera that has that type of lens that the one you show in the video has. That is to say, almost everything is seen in wide angle. since I have one that only sees or covers very little to the sides, and I want something almost 360 degrees in vision. How do I look when buying to get a lens like that?

Look for cameras that have a 2.8mm fixed lens. That will give you the widest angle. The camera in this video is the IPC3635SS-ADF28KMC-I1 which has a 109° horizontal field of view. You can find that in the datasheet which is provided by the camera manufacturer.

What camera are you using? You shouldn't have to login to the camera every time the power goes down. It should come back online automatically.

I have a Uniview NVR302-08S-P8 with 7 cameras. I want to update my cameras. I have bought a Reolink RLC-811A-4K Smart PoE Camera and plggued it into the 8th input in the back of the NVR. It doesnt seem to be detecting it on my NVR when I go into the NVR settings. It shows a Camera 8 with the same Subnet as the other existing cameras, but I think that was already there. When I go into the Setup, Camera, Camera, Advanced tab it only shows my existing 7 cameras. Any idea what might be happening or why this isnt detecting my new camera?

When I check the POE Port Status it shows the first 7 ports as between 2-2.50W. The 8th Port (where I have the Reolink Camera plugged in) is showing around 7.30W Not sure why the big difference and if this means anything??? I am illiterate with these things.

@@macy5173 Download EZTools 2.0, plug your laptop into the back of the UNV NVR, and look for the IP address of your Reolink camera. Camera 8 in the Uniview NVR is set to 172.16.0.108 by default but it does not mean your Reolink camera has been added. You need to find which IP address the Reolink has and change it to 172.16.0.xx to match with the other cameras on the PoE ports. Hopefully that helps point you in the right direction. Basically you need to find your Reolink camera's IP address from EZTools 2.0 and change it to 172.16.0.xx and then enter the IP, username, and password in the UNV NVR.

@@xlrsecurity EZTools would not find my Reolink Camera. I plugged it straight into my network (not via NVR) and then ran the Reolink Web app, changed the IP and Gateway. Then plugged it back into my NVR and tried again, changing the settings in the NVR web page. Still no luck. It wont connect the camera.

Motion detection and IR should work since these are part of the ONVIF specification. Face recognition will not work.

you need a laser that can pump out over 5 mw a reg pointer won't work u can get a 500 mw laser for like 90 bucks the kind that lights matches instantly or burn thru nd set paper on fire in just a second . those hand held laser would fry through any camera in mere seconds .

No matter what type of security measures you have in place (locks, cameras, alarm systems) a determined enough individual or group of individuals will find a way to bypass it. It helps to layer security on top of each other so you if one layer is broken through, you have more layers of protection. And hopefully enough time for police or security to arrive and resolve the situation. Stay safe out there.

I'm not sure why your EZStation 3.0 has problems downloading footage but here are some troubleshooting steps you can try. 1. Go to Control Panel -> System Configuration -> Recording (in EZStation) and make sure the downloaded recording path is valid. You can try setting it to a different folder to see if the issue persists. 2. Make sure you have enough space on your computer to download the files. 3. Delete the EZStation 3.0 settings folder "C:\Users\Public\EZStation 3" and restart your computer. It could be a misconfiguration in the software causing the issue. If that doesn't help, you must try contacting Uniview support. They will be able to assist you further. Good luck!

Are you use you have a Uniview ColorHunter camera? Setting them to night mode mode should enable the white light, which will give you full colour. What's the model number of your camera?

Outstanding test. Honestly never gave thought to some sh!+#3@d using LEDs to blind night vision, which would pretty much invalidate the purpose of CCTVs providing night images (for our projects). Day vision for canine lawn "vandalism" (destructive urination, defacation or...?) fine, however, just not night vision. Only actual way of ensuring night vision and night vision accuracy is to install motion-activated security lights.

For a while (1-2 years ago), none of the resellers were offering Hikvision because it was banned for sale in the USA (well, I know they weren't offering Hikvision). The alternative was Uniview. So what's the consensus now that Hikvision seems to be sold once again in the USA? Should home owners still switch to Uniview for their security equipment?

Hikvision and Uniview are both great choices for homeowners in the USA. The ban on Hikvision was completely political with little to no evidence of any wrongdoing by them. Of course, we prefer Uniview due to their simplicity and reliability but Hikvision cameras are just as good.

Can you try this experiment with equal or more light fixed at you or around you. I believe camera apertures on security cameras are fixed, so how much light is absorbed is static. So if you have flood lights focused on a persons face, perhaps the persons blinding light wont white-flush the face,

The problem is the cameras sensor is being overwhelmed with light. Adding more light to the person shinning the torch is only going to bounce more light back at the sensor. Think of driving at night on a dark road, if a car coming at you has its high beams on and you put your high beams on, you're still being dazzled, they're just being dazzled too.
