For some of us it has become crystal clear that perhaps at the time this song and verse were maybe scribbled on a wrinkled piece of paper in haste, indeed it harkened Bob’s vision forward to what ultimately for me can be accurately and poetically described as 1/20/21. “Come senators, congressmen Please heed the call Don't stand in the doorway Don't block up the hall For he that gets hurt Will be he who has stalled The battle outside ragin' Will soon shake your windows And rattle your walls For the times they are a-changin' Could Bob have seen the future with any greater clarity… Let us each look within and make up our own minds if we want to join together or fall divided.

Unfortunately you can't get a complete recording without KZbin adds so it somewhat ruins it all...

The account that Bob Spitz describes of this incident in his bio of Dylan is great. He captures all the awkwardness and backstory to what’s going on in the car that day.

1/ He seems to be enjoying himself. 2/ I can understand the words. (Helps me with memorizing them and so singing along with later versions.) 3/ Wonderful. Thank you for posting.

After watching Dylan's 1965 San Francisco press conference and then his Ed Bradley 60 minutes interview, I am happy to have watched this MQ interview. Very insightful.

That "Rye Whiskey" tune sounds like Dylan's, "Farewell Angelina"....or vice-versa.

Dylan seems more "up" for this segment than all the others I've listened to. Maybe he sampled some of his "Heaven's Door"!

Lousy song, badly sung. And I'm a Dylan fan . . .

Bob Dylan must put a lot of time into his paintings, just look at the detail.

@nightly moth Thank you so much for this. I was at this Bournemouth concert and think it was among his best on the UK tour. Do you have any more tracks to upload? I do of course realize that the Liverpool concert 48 hours later was broadly similar in terms of our man's mood and how he and the band interpreted the songs.

I first saw Dylan in the 80s, before Oh, Mercy, at maybe 7 years old. This video is from when I was seeing him as a young adult whenever I could. The real memories, when it was mine, and I'd lived the words.

Anyone whom understands Bob will understand what this is. It was his narrative, and John went along with it, foolishly IMO. Bob was used to getting his own way. John wasn't. It's just a couple of young larrikins with way too much power & ego acting out their own script for whatever attempt at legacy. E.g. look at Bob's earlier famous press conference for proof of his attitude, or simply read his book. Bob was a genius with his folk spirit, and John came along later with his fame-seeking pop stuff.
