We are told the number of downloads is in thousands. So 3 million is 3000,000, which is equivalent to 3000 thousands.

The first three terms are 2k-15, k, k+4. If we substitute k=-5, some terms become negative. The series represents the number of downloads. The number of downloads can only take positive values, not negative.
