I am currently playing this game for the first time ever despite being a die hard driver fan since i first played driver 2 on ps1 i fell in love. Some challenge missions hit hard in the feelings trying to mimic the old driver vibes and atmosphere, classic cars only, no super power bar, and fixed music that sounds similar to driver 2.

Just like with Driver 1, I've had the same great experience, playing this absolut gem of a game in the early 2010's and still today occasionally. I'm usually not a fan of american media at all, but for Driver 1 and San Francisco, I've had to make an exception. It's so stereotypical, but does it so classy and well. From the story, to the visualy, to the 70' car chase movie details being put into the gameplay, to the awfully-good soundtrack - I've enjoyed every minute of it and still do. Also, Tanner is absolutely my man. If I found myself in his movie-esque scenarios, I could see myself handling things the same. I'm not gonna say, I'm like him - But I'm kinda, like him.

Such an excellent game! I have a flash drive (16GB) thats just large enough to hold a pirated version of the game, hacked by Skidrow. The weirdest thing about it is that on modern windows it can only be run once. After that it errors out or makes your pc BSOD. No joke! It's a tradition for me to run it on every new computer I get. Then I have to uninstall it since it wont work anymore.

I don't understand why Ubisoft doesn't bring the series back. This game sold 14 million copies but they ditched it for watch dogs which only sold 9 mil. Pretty sad

This theme song was inspired by the 70s crime drama The Streets of San Francisco. Used to watch it in syndication, had every celebrity on there before they became famous and some of the best car chases.

I woke up in my base, and went outside to find no one, the base was deserted, left to the winds of time, my comrades, my fellow soldiers had moved on, but I arrived late, far, far too late. I was sent on a one way trip to the desert, long after everyone was washed away beneath the tide of sand and oil. I grabbed the keys of a jeep and drove out of the base, there was nothing for me there, they were all gone, probably deployed to the southern Mediterranean or some other unknown place. Regardless, I drove, out of the base and onto the road, I stopped by a village, it was empty, there was no life, just the mud brick houses of a civilization long eroded by itself and outside intervention. I stopped by a gas station, there were no cars outside, there was also no fuel. I pressed onwards, there was an old military airbase that guarded over the great city like a gargoyle, only that it's head was missing, and the people it so loved behind him had all disappeared into the valleys. I drove past the gate and onto the airstrip, coming to a complete stop, I got out and sat down, it felt so many souls were here, fighting here, for upwards of about 20 years, fighting and dying in the sand, it's over. Operation Arrowhead is over. It's over. I was too late to the party, but that's okay, because I can still see the spirits fighting here, many, many hours were spent here, and I'm just beginning my first.

This is the best car game ever published by Ubisoft. The brand variety and selection, good damage phsics for branding cars and the shifting feature were and are till this day unique and unmatched for all racing titles.
