Did you get full match donor?
@AnnChouinardАй бұрын
@@ranjeeta10 My donor was 22 years old and it was a 10 out of 10 match. But my understanding is that an 8 or 9 out of 10 match is very good also. Thanks for asking.

Thanks for these videos. I appreciate your friendly, straight-forward approach. I've been diagnosed with CCUS for 2 years, with a possibility of it turning into MDS. Still watching and waiting.

What was your MCV count? Was it elevated?
@AnnChouinard2 ай бұрын
On average it was 112. After the bone marrow transplant it is now within normal limits. God bless your journey and feel free to ask more questions or share your story. Ann

@@AnnChouinard I had stage 4 ovarian cancer last year. I had 4 rounds of chemo,surgery, and 4 more rounds of chemo. I was put on a PARP inhibitor,zejula. I had to stop taking it in SEptember, because of heart palpitations. My MCV started to rise in June and had steadily increased to 112 in September. I have had two folate and B12 deficiency tests and both were normal. Chemo and zejula both can cause MDS by messing up the bone marrow. I ask my doctor to do a blood smear . I fear it could be MDS.
@AnnChouinard2 ай бұрын
@ I will be praying it is not MDS. You have been through so much. May our God surround you with peace and protection.

@@AnnChouinard I had a good report! The red blood cells were almost back to normal. My doctor said the zejula was causing the MCV to be so high and it should return to normal in two more monthes. Thanks for your prayers. God has been so good to me.

Hi Sandra, Thank you for sharing your story. MDS can be so unpredictable. For me after battling the disease for four years, I was more than happy to get the transplant. It is such a long journey, but I know it will be worth it. I admire your strength. It is tough and can be hard for people to understand at times, but with the grace of God, friends and family we will make it through. I will be praying for you. Keep sharing your story and please let me know if there are any updates. You are on my prayer list. Blessings and Love, Ann Chouinard

My dear Ann, you are so brave and strong! I just know you are going to come out of this long journey healthy and happy. I have MDS as well with a few of the glitches that make it even harder to control. Just when I am feeling "normal", it is time for another round of chemo which knocks my hemoglobin down and the cycle of needing a transfusion begins. After 20 years of living in South Carolina we have decided to move closer to our children near Gettysburg, PA. Not only is this going to allow us to have a support system but the chance for a new doctor. I have been seeing the one here in SC for over a year, the language barrier and lack of communication has caused me great stress. I am hoping for better things to come...for the both of us. Stay strong Ann, I have been following your journey and have been cheering you on!

Hi Ann, I have MDS and will be going to Dana Garber in Boston Ma. on Sept. 4th to start my conditioning with my stem cells on Sept.13th. I am being done as an outpatient and will be staying nearby for a month. Can I asked how you handle the Chemo? I know we all are different. I received my list of medications my stem cell transplant WOW the amount of medication we have to take is over whelming. I hope you have continued good health and you soon get your energy back.

@@marylouvigue5360 Hello Dana, Thank you for sharing your journey. I had a donor and was in the hospital for 31 days. The first 2 weeks went good but the second two weeks in the hospital were rough. Many GI issues, mostly diarrhea, some nausea. I was very tired and sleep a lot. I did get out of bed everyday and got dressed to have some sort of normality. Surprisingly my body got used to all the meds. The meds do interfere at times with my appetite. Somehow, someway we get through it. Looking back it seems like a flash in time. It is all so worth the it! You got this! God Bless and feel free to contact me any time. Ann

Congratulations Ann and thank you for sharing your journey! I have MDS with other complications thrown in for good measure. I am taking oral chemo and injections for my low neutrophils and low hemoglobin. Between the blood draws, transfusions and injections, I am beginning to feel like a human pin cushion. But I keep up hope and look forward to tomorrow. I will be watching your journey and sending you good vibes!

Hello Ann! I want to thank you for your very informative videos during your MDS journey to Transplant. I too will be getting my transplant at the UofM on September 4th for Myelofibrosis. I live in Southeast Michigan so I will be able to return home. It will be difficult to return to the hospital a few times per week as it’s a 45 minute drive but I’ll be happy to be home recovering. I wish you a speedy event free recovery. I look forward to your next video. ❤

Your efforts in making such informative and heartfelt videos are greatly appreciated! I pray for you to regain all your strength soon! I am just beginning my journey. Low blood counts and gradually getting lower the last couple of years. I am scheduled for a bone marrow biopsy now after extensive blood tests ruled out anything causing my anemia. I am 64 and in excellent shape except for the anemia. I push through the tiredness at the gym but it’s getting a little harder. I work out hard and eat clean with plenty of protein so I knew the low blood counts weren’t right. Primary care Drs tend to overlook and ignore marginal low blood counts in older folks it seems!

@@Capt-Bryan You go for it if you need a bone marrow transplant! You have everything going for you! I also pushed through at the gym as long as I could, but as it got closer to transplant I was being super careful not to get an infection, so I did some yoga at home. And you are right, you have to be your own advocate. I am now at + day 86 since I received my transplant. I am doing quite well and anything like skin rash and mouth issues are healing nicely. I still face days of fatigue and other days where I have quite a bit of energy. I am scheduled for a Bone marrow biopsy on July 31. If I am cancer free and all goes well going forward I will be home the first or second week in August. It is a long journey with more to come. I will post another video at day + 100. There is so much to share and if I can help in any way please comment back to me. God Bless Your Journey. Ann

I am cheering for you to get home! I finally am set to start more extensive testing next week with complete CT’s , labs, and a bone marrow biopsy. I feel strong and good this week except for easy bruising and getting sleepy when I sit down for any time. I am hoping for some answers and a definite direction the next few weeks. Thanks for your encouragement!
