Yep we will just drip the sauce around the meat instead of on-top. Great job

Just my two cents, it’s truly iconic but the sandwich itself is very mediocre.

I like that they use a tablet for ordering, so you don’t have to flag down a waitress to get their attention and put your order in.

Got introduced to Philippe’s by my late friend Chuck. On a return trip to LA I tried the lamb dip and it was delicious. If you ever travel through Union Station it is only a short walk away. Don’t miss it!

Born in El Salvador and “Salvadoran” is how Americans say it (I call it google Spanish) salvadorians say it with “ians” not Salvador”an”. if you don’t agree it’s because you are probably Salvadorian American a.k.a. 2nd,3rd generation etc..👍🏾

Went there last year not sure if it would be overhyped but it was so good! The beef dip and the potatoe salad in particular were absolutely delicious. The coleslaw was super good too. Was very pleasantly surprised by the sides. Would definitely come back the next time I’m in LA!

I started trying Korean foods about a year ago. I have had 7 out of the 10 dishes so far. I really want to try the ginseng chicken soup and the soft tofu soup. Thank you for this video!

After 42 years, still the lamb sandwich, with just a small touch of the hot mustard....careful, that stuff could stop your heart 😋

Philippe is ok. Their sandwiches are good, but I actually prefer Cole's in DTLA, the other eatery in town that claims to have originated the French Dip. Cole's makes a really good sandwich, plus I like their more distinctive pub-type atmosphere as well as the fact that they serve french fries, which Philippe does not. I like Cole's spicy garlic fries. The Hat also makes an excellent beef dip sandwich, with a cup of au jus on the side.

Go to Coles in DTLA n try their sandwiches. Also Canters if you want the best pastrami in SoCal

i went there on my first trip to LA back in 2009. The dip is like the secret sauce of a big mac. you need to dip in the sandwich.

I had lunch at Philippe's with my brother and sister-in-law the day you filmed this! I had a roast beef (single dip) and a coffee. And that potato salad is indeed the best I've ever had. I'm bummed I missed out on the hot mustard though! Definitely gonna need to go back now. Thanks for the tip!

The original Hat is on valley blvd in Alhambra. It is the hamburger stand there still and out door benches for seating. The food is fabulous there from the original location.

I've been eating at Philippe since high school, and I'm now 75 years old. I still love it. I also live in the neighborhood of one of the retired family members, and oh, the stories he can share from his many years working at the restaurant. I need to get back up to L.A. and get me some French dip sans.

This place is a disappointment every single time. Only reason worth coming here is to buy to go jars of their hot mustard. It's only famous because it's old. It's no better than going to your local Ralph's or Safeway deli.

I am Mexican and something haven’t ever liked is how my country fellows how excited they get when eating or tasting our own stuff. It makes me roll my eyes so badly 🙄 cuz that’s not for us to say. We should save those impressions for ourselves like we haven’t ever tried our own food ever before. Like Hello??? 🙄

This place really lived up to the hype, the food was the truth. Service was really good, opening doors, greetings, friendly server smiling. And the food was absolutely fantastic. Like I was expecting it to be okay, but it blew me away. Definitely the best soul food in Los Angeles, hands down. And the prices were very very reasonable.
