Where do I buy the giant socket to remove the filter housing?
@abouthomeopathy1013 ай бұрын
Thank you! Very informative, I could easily change all three wipers myself! For anyone who might be interested for this information, this is 2024 and it concerns my mini cooper F56 (2020 - European left hand drive car) and I bought Denso Wiperblade Hybrid DUR045L (45mm / 18") and DUR048L (48mm / 19") for the front wipers (18" driver side, 19" passenger side - L stands for left hand drive, for right hand drive cars it would be an R) and Bosch H240 (240mm / 9") for the rear (equals Denso DRD-003, which was unavailable).

Those parts seem exorbitantly expensive to me. I'll have to forgo getting a minicooper.
@smvckerz5194 ай бұрын
All in, if you reuse the oil filter tool, you’re only gonna use about $20 - $50 on oil, and that’s it.

What! Thanks for this. I'm so confused why when I call certain places for oil changes traveling the U.S. some will literally tell me "a mini coopers oil change is too difficult." This video shows its not that serious to do at all! After a recent visit to one place in D.C., I realized they say this when they don't have the filters to replace in the car. Some mechanic places are seriously ridiculous.

Hi I'm confused regarding the oil. I recently bought this car model and change my oil. Before I changed oil, the car reached 40 MPG every time, and after I put the MOBIL 5W-40 European formula, it got down to 32 MPG. Do you know why it is happening? Any comment is very helpful. Thank you in advance.
@jssdgarage Жыл бұрын
Although you have the same winter viscosity. Your warm viscosity is thicker. Thus working the engine harder and consuming more fuel. I would recommend 5w30 oil.

Why wouldn't use the Jacking Pucks installed on the car to prevent damage ??
@jssdgarage2 жыл бұрын
Because then it wouldn't be able to put jack stands on those points. Its always easier with ramps, or a low profile jack to use the subframe as a jacking point

A smear of oil round the o-ring before installation is good practice
@jssdgarage2 жыл бұрын
The torque rating is for dry threads.
@bx16v2 жыл бұрын
@@jssdgarage not talking about the torque rating - generally you'd smear oil on the oil filter housing o ring, or the seal directly on the canister if it is a metal type - it prevents the possibility of an install related tearing or moving, and also prolongs the life of the oring and integrity of the seal. Some people use rubber grease, but a drop of the old oil smeared round it works too.
@jssdgarage2 жыл бұрын
I believe by nature of the canister design it probably would mess with the threads and torque rating. But probably not, might be something to relook at in the future

Super helpful and too the point. I just performed an oil service on my f56 using oem parts from local dealer. The filter housing drain plug is 13mm on the new dealer filter. The one on the car was t55. Since I was under the car, I went ahead with removing the under tray to perform an inspection. Under tray was secured with 8mm screw bolts, 14 of them. my f56....2018, jcw tuning kit (exhaust, tune), nw engineering 22mm solid rear bar and end links (factory endlinks are plastic, factory rear bar way too soft/hollow), michelin pilot sports (oem pirelli runflat were subpar).

Great vid bro. Should you always change your air filter in your mini when you do an oil change? If not what could happen?
@jssdgarage3 жыл бұрын
If your air filter is too dirty you will obstruct the airflow to your engine, thus possible combustion issues could occur. Personality I alternate in changing the filter between oil changes, because my mini is not a daily commuter. I do always check the condition of the filter prior to the service.

The oil service kit i grabbed from MiniMania. You can source alot of OEM stuff there. FCPEuro is another great source. Another one is OutMotoring. Browse around find the best deal for your budget is my advice.

Friendly feedback - get your facts right before you make a video. Torque wrench is for fastening only, correct oil grade is 5W40, you do not put oil on the drain plug washer, torque drain plug 22 ft-lbs, not Nm....

So you say under the door handle is where you should Jack? I have the 4 door cooper (f55) and I've heard the same thing to Jack under the panel but i felt it and it was just plastic and I was scared to Jack it up.
@jssdgarage4 жыл бұрын
The actual structure under the rocker panel is pretty solid, if you have a low profile jack or you setup your mini on ramps you can use a 2x4 (2ft in lenght should be good) to add a longer pressure point and minimize your doubt for damage to the plastic bits. 👌
@charlesthomas40323 жыл бұрын
I use a piece of scrap 1x4 wood about a foot long to cushion the jack and spread the load. My jackstand points have more damage on them.

@jssdgarage4 жыл бұрын
Haven't come across it myself. But the Wiper position might have become uncalibrated. Or there's something elsr going on with the wiper motor. It more than likely will need removal of the linkage and manually resetting the wiper blades. I hope this helps. Keep On Motoring🤙

This is what the owners manual for the 2016 1.4t jetta says about the type of oil... since theres alot of comments about it.. Your engine was factory-filled with a high-quality, synthetic all-season engine oil that meets strict Volkswagen oil quality standards and has a viscosity grade of SAE 5W-40. or SAE 5W-30. You can use this oil for normal driving in all temperatures. If you need to add oil between oil changes, use only a high quality oil that expressly complies with the Volkswagen oil quality standard specified for your vehicle's engine: Engines Engine oil specification Gasoline engines VW 502 00 VW 503 00 VW 504 00 Diesel engines VW 507 00
@trevorc30632 жыл бұрын
Yes, it notes to not top off with more than a half-quart of non-euro-approved SAE 5w-30 in a pinch, but to use euro approved 5w-30 or 5w-40. I believe there is a note recommending Castrol but it's not that

You put the wrong oil in it takes castrol 5w40 and the drain plug does need to be changed every oil change it should come with the oe vw oil filter purchased at the dealer
@EsteBandido_YT4 жыл бұрын
the manual for a 2016 Jetta says either 5w-30 or 5w-40
@anon90254 жыл бұрын
You can use either. The dealers use 5w-40 even though the manual says 5w-30. I recommend 5w-30c3 because its good for 16,000km instead of the 5w-40 which is good to 12,000km
@danielfl.93474 жыл бұрын
The oil you have used is not a bad oil, but it is not correct for this engine. You need 5W/30 with VW spec 507.000. Mostly these are the golden Castrol bottles. But your engine won't take any harm from driving with engine, but it is made for GM-cars.
@husseymangtv4 жыл бұрын
it can take 5w 40 or 30.
