I just laughed to myself when I heard the VH4. That nails his tone to a tee. Mix the VH4 with the Marshall and you have near his exact tone.

If this isn't being recorded through the same mics used by AJ, then no matter what you do, this isn't going to sound dead on. When you hear a record, 10,000 Days for instance, you are hearing the guitar through the amps, then through the cabs, then being recorded by a microphone. You're not hearing what those cabs sound like in a room, or on headphones. You either have to use mics OR you can use cab IRs for the specific cab/mic combo you're looking to reproduce, then run that through an FRFR. It'll get you a lot closer than recording your very expensive setup with a cell phone mic.

It sounds good. But you won’t ever be accurate if the cabs aren’t being mic’d up. When you’re listening to the album, you’re hearing the amp through the cab and into a microphone, or multiple microphones. Different microphones can drastically change how an amp/cab sounds on a recording. “In the room” sound coming directly from an amp/cab will never sound the same as an amp/cab being recorded/picked up through a mic and then sent to front of house or an FRFR. This is precisely why I am a huge fan of modelers running IR with different mics.

Is your VH4 modded? The extra knob in the master section is curious.

It’s a reverb mod that was done by Peter Diezel and then reversed by him. So it does nothing the knob. The Diezel is also a 2002 model

Are you positive all of the amps are in phase with each other? Something in the top end sounds a bit strange like one is out. I know when I used to run my VH4 and Knucklehead Tre (I know, different model) together live, Ch3 on the VH4 and channel 2 on the Tre were out of phase, and I had to use an RJM box to control that.

Hey yeah ch3 and ch2 run 180 out of phase. I have corrected for that to. My feeling is the gain on the Hagen is a little off. Hence why I sold the Hagen

Presence is about 1 o clock. Deep about 2 o clock

@@sonnydinkelaar bass on 3 o clock, mids either full or 3ish. Treble set 2 o clock. Vol about midday. And gain between 12 and 2 depending on how much gain your amp has
