Love how Howard Stern turned his back on Leslie once he got big. Leslie was on the show quite a bit in the beginning

Leslie West's guitar playing on here is worh more than all the Eddie Van Halen solos put together. It really bugs me when people equate playing fast with playing well.

I like Jack Bruce's version better, but this is a good cover. Shows up in the soundtrack to the Sopranos (along with Missisippi Queen)

If there was a global PA System that nobody could ignore and we could only play one song... this would be it.

The picture is a bit 'arse'. It reminds me of a monty python record. "Bum, what a giveaway". The 'covert' representation of a psychological dynamic. Social psychology. Another line from a movie (Pale rider) "If you wait for a woman to make its mind up you will be waiting a long time". The protagonist (viewer) rides of and leaves them, not wanting to be trapped in it.

Sorry about Bart. My brother John passed years ago and I too discovered music through him. Unfortunately we were not close but I do thank him for that. Lucky you have good relationship. 🌻

How has no one mentioned Steve knight’s combination of mellotron and organ? Really beautiful sound. Mountain’s best songs are when you can hear all four of them.

I played air guitar to this solo until my father could take no more. As a teenager growing up, I connected with this like it was Leslie speaking the words I could not say. Many years later I saw Leslie playing a gig in midtown Manhattan. He brought his two sons with him. One played Drums and one played Bass. I was so happy for him. He was able to share his love and passion with his children. They killed this song and others from Mountain. He was one of the greats; a man who had been around the block many times but humble. Leslie West has made a place in my heart, like others, who I have grown up with and grown old with. While I am still here, he will always be remembered.

I grew up in the 80s and heavy metal and blues are my two genres but without the bands like Sabbath deep purple UFO mountain grateful dead Allman's Skynard u would not have what the 80s gave me and my generation but these bands are the true legends

When they recorded this leslie didnt know what key to play in. They told him A so he starred doing a minor stuff and they told him it was wrong. He didnt know what relative major and minor was so they had to tell him “play blues in f# minor” and leslie’s reaction was “holy shit it fits”. This was a story he told in a guitar magazine many yrs ago before he passed
