Well, talk about timing! We just bought 22 acres if woods in South Carolina. (Currently we're in a suburb in North Carolina). I was all in on the Woodland Mills, but stumbled across this video. Now you have me thinking. For just a few hundred more, I could get one of these with a wider cut, bigger engine AND electric start! I'm 72, so that's a real nice to have! I'll be watching your channel to see if you post any updates before I'm ready to buy. Thanks for putting this together. Cheers!

@@willphelps6715 Wow! That is perfect timing for sure. I am glad that you now know there are other great options out there. I will soon start on building my sawmill shed to get it all covered up which will include some extra milling content for sure. So far, I've milled a bunch of 2x4s and 1x6 planks that I used to build a boardwalk (videos are on the channel). All in all, this machine is a beast and I couldn't be happier. The electric start is definitely a must. Let me know if you have any questions.

Looks great! About 25 years ago I used rubberized under coating on steel wheels. We traveled a lot on dirt roads made of a very abrasive sand/clay mix. The state also used a lot of sand on the roads in the winter. Painted steel rims weren’t painted for long, especially on work vehicles. I’d pull the rims off once a year and do a light touch up with the undercoating after a good cleaning and rebalancing. I’m not sure about -30 cold snaps, but I think your method would’ve probably held up better.
@SeriouslyStumpd
@SeriouslyStumpd 5 күн бұрын
This stuff (Plasti-dip) is pretty durable but I likely wouldn't do it for a work truck. If I wanted those blacked out, I'd probably just go ahead and have them powder coated. Not sure about that level of cold. Yikes.
@PurpleNovember
@PurpleNovember 5 күн бұрын
@@SeriouslyStumpd The powdered coating we tried did not hold up at all and it ended up being close to the price of another set of wheels. I like the plasti-dip with all the different colors. The flat black wasn’t bad but it would’ve been nice if we had a charcoal or light gray available. The Rocky Mountains get cold in the winter time though.

@@SeriouslyStumpd The powder coating now would probably be the best option but back then it was undercoating. If I remember right the powder coating we tried was chipping by the end of summer after being done in the spring time. I am curious if the plasti-dip would hold up in those temperatures. I’m in Florida now so I guess I won’t find out for myself 🎉😎🎉

I love this thing. I ordered a set of spare teeth with it and I haven't even had to open the box. So far I've demolished around a dozen fairly large stumps. The limitations are in your technique and in your tractors output and not the stump grinder itself. If you want a PTO driven stump grinder and you have a hydrostatic tractor, this is the way to go.
