About 20 years ago I used to own a red 1974 Mk 2. It was a LHD US car, rebuilt before I bought it. Except for a small oil leak from the seal onto the exhaust manifold, the Lotus engine was reliable. The Sunbeam 4-speed transmission was rebuilt shortly before I got it, and it felt like new. The electrics were mostly fine except for one day when the power to the added fuel pump vanished. That problem challenged 2 Ph.d. electrical engineers and 1 Cal Tech physics Ph.d. So I called up the experts at the UK's Cropredy Bridge Garage in UK, who sent me a wiring diagram. That helped and we fixed it. The Jensen-Healey was great fun to drive. I sold it at auction for about what I paid for it. The buyer owned a bakery in Arnhem Holland. He shipped it back there, which is where it likely still resides. It's former home in my garage has been taken over by a Honda S2000, which I keep pristine and fully stock. The S2000 revs higher, corners better, but sometimes I still miss the more primitive Jensen-Healey.

I used to have a '73 Jensen Healey in white . I used it to tow my MG Midget race car . It didn't like that and I had to replace the main bearings before selling it . I'm 6' 3" and had about a dozen Spitfires , got in them easily .

Hi Adam, great video, best Jensen Healey video on KZbin 👍. I just watched another with you being followed by a blue JH fitted with a V8 engine and you were clearly easily pulling away from him in acceleration. I have a white 74 Mk 2 and have also done the 2.2 conversion. A couple of questions are you using the standard camshafts and how is the 4 speed. Gearbox holding up to the extra power. I heard the Sunbeam Rapier 4 speeds were only ever meant for 120 horses.
@wazzzup67
@wazzzup67 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Carl, I'm glad you enjoyed it (the thanks really goes to Adrian as he did all the organising - I just drove lots!) The chap in the blue JH could have accelerated away faster but his engine is in need of a reubild so I suspect he was taking it easier. Sure, I have 107s on mine and the 4 speed + overdrive copes fine with the extra power. I can downshift from 4th to 2nd aggressively (matching rpm to road speed ofcourse) and it has been absolutely fine so far. I haven't held the rpm at 6k and dumped the clutch in 1st as that may destroy it but letting the clutch in in a reasonable time has been fine to date. My box was built by a rootes guru from what I can rememeber but I can vouch it does work for fast road use. Hope this helps, if you have any other questions feel free to email me on [email protected]

There's work to be done on the sound quality. The volume is too low - I barely hear the interviewees (I hear the birds chirping way better than the person speaking); your accent is quite noticeable and you mush your words, yet you put music in the background so we can make out even less of what you're saying... Too bad, because it looks interesting and the cinematography is quite good. Another vid ruined by unnecessary music and bad sound... Let's hope it will improve in the future. :)

The deal today for a sport car maker is not the race for engine horse power but it is to make a performant sport car with a light weight and a small CO2 emission. A ratio weight / hp combined with a light weight will always be more performant on a twisting circuit than the same ratio combined with heavy weight. in other words the ALPINE A110 S ratio 1114 KG / 292 HP (3,81) will be more performant than the same ratio 1440KG / 378 HP (3,81) (....Porsche 718 ). Unfortunately, on the commercial market, the car makers attract customers with the number of horse power.. 600hp, 700hp, and now some at 800 hp. This is the race to horse power with crazy CO2 emission because this cars are heavy. The Alpine A110 is the only one on the right way. The Alpine engineers worked a lot to save weight in a daily usable car. All sport car makers (Ferrari, Porsche, Mercedes....have to change their strategy and work to create performant supercars, BUT with half C02 emission (I am not talking about electrical development which is not a solution because batteries create other big pollution issues people forget). ALPINE shows the direction
