I love how he sardonically says "I'm a mason also" and holds up a trowel lol. Making fun of fortunado and basically telling him what he's going to do. He could've been told to give a false name for voting and was too far gone to realize he wasn't sitting in a booth. Couping just sounds right based on the circumstances, he would've been given free liquor for four days straight. Supposing he was still a drinker then going off a binge like that could certainly have broke his brain.The thing about carbon monoxide and heavy metals is EVERYONE had high levels back then.

I’ve always been bothered by the idea that not just any race but any specific person, can be born evil. Good and Evil require freewill to be what they are. If someone is born evil, then they aren’t really making a choice. So can they really be evil? I also believe viewing one as evil gives the believer the reason to harm others. But evil is the desire to harm others unnecessarily. The Nazis were evil themselves, but they harmed others believing those others were evil. I see this reasoning with the salem witch trials, the holocaust, and the crusades to name a few atrocities commited. I’m instinctively alienated from someones arguments when they say the magic words ‘but they’re evil, so they deserve to suffer’. I will only welcome this trope in fiction if its there to be deconstructed as the dangerous B.S. that it is. I would cover other reasons but you guys covered all of them.

As a grammar nazi, I can tell you that in no way, shape or form was 'viking' ever a verb. When you say "to go viking" or "to go in viking", the verb in those phrases is 'to go'. Don't let the -ing suffix fool you: in Norse, Norwegian, Swedish and Icelandic (but curiously not Danish), the -ing suffix is not reserved for verbs and gerunds, but also adjectives and nouns derived from adjectives and place names/topographical features. For example, while a person from Iceland is called an Icelander in English, he is called islending in Norwegian. A person from Narvik is called a narviking. There are other suffixes to be used as well, but -ing is a common one - and it often has nothing to do with verb origin. The etymology of 'viking' is still in dispute, but even if its origin is a verb (which I, for one, do not buy at all), 'viking' can never be used in verb form - nor has it ever been. Oh, and the apostrophe in your heading is up-side down. Here endeth the rant.
@thelitroundtable8929
@thelitroundtable8929 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info. As someone who believes there is power in language, I'm going to ask that you strike the use of "grammar nazi" from your vocabulary. There are other ways to say that you're bothered by grammatical errors. Using the term "nazi" in anything that isn't talking about the actual Nazis is insensitive to the horrors that they inflicted on the Jews and disabled communities. Also bold of you to say that any word has /never/ been used in a certain way--the cool thing about language is that it's fluid and while there are rules, they're changing all the time. :) As for the apostrophe... yeah, it bugged me too, but seemed to be a font issue in Canva. Figured it was better to have an upside down apostrophe than none at all. Have an awesome day! -A

Could there be a historic link between Troy and vikings? The Trojan Horse is well-known. Could horse be a kenning for ship? kennings for HORSE. Kenning is a norse paraphrase, a litterary tool of old, to name things differently for a number of reasons. Maybe to preserve secrets, keep plans in a close circle even if others heard them talk, and so on.. fǫður viggs. - ‘the stallion’s father. ’ - HORSE (1. Anonymous Lausavísur, 8. Lausavísur from Vǫlsa þáttr, 2 [Vol. 1, 1093], kenning 1) lung váfaðar Gungnis. - ‘the longship of the swinger of Gungnir <Óðinn’s spear>.’ - HORSE (3. Bragi inn gamli Boddason, 3. Why would you troll these nice people like that? I get that it is a cheeky joke about how those modules share a lot in spirit with Pathfinder Adventure Paths, but you are just confusing them. To set the record straight, Dragonlance was created for TSR (the company that published d&d from 1975 [or 73 but that gets complicated] to 1997) and had published game material for Ad&d 1e and 2e. Shortly before the buy out byb Wizards of The Coast they released Dragonlance fifth age using the saga system. Hasbro bought WotC shortly there after and d&d 3rd edition came out (the "a" being dropped is another story, suffice it to say "advanced" can hurt you marketing wise). For third edition Wizards of the coast did not publish any Dragonlance material in house (though they were still making the novels), but instead licensed it to Margaret Weis Studios.

Its such a tease how Logen doesn't want to know what the mission is.. witch forces us to learn it while it unfolds What was Ardee doing up in the tour of Chains? She just casually walks in and sits next to Logen, thats a little odd Glokta crying before the stairs was pretty touching tbh, I really want to know more about what brought him where he is right now. If he sticks his nose in the banks, he is probably going to find out stuff he didn't want to know about Sult.. Quai is the cutest, I am a little scared for him, hopefully he doesn't get in trouble with Glokta.. Jezal is cancelled, pretty sure he will not resist and still go to Ardee, she could really be his downfall. Ferro is thirteen??? And I really doubt wh will get any grand arc; this is grim dark... But still we will see Yulwei seems OP! I wonder if he knows Bayaz.. Now we know for sure that eating human flesh is part of the "dark arts" and it seems like all you need to perform magic is knowledge, I wonder who will be the first character to try it. Can you elaborate on what you found annoying about Laurana and Tanis in these chapters? For my part I liked their scenes here for while their interactions were somewhat tense that seemed understandable given how much stress they were both under (what with Laurana having to face battle for the first time while also seeing her brother being falsely accused of being a traitor and Tanis having to deal with leading a critical mission that was going south), and there were still several nice moments of them supporting/appreciating each other that gave hope for the future of their relationship. I also really liked the scenes showing Laurana facing her fears and how she ultimately proved herself to be a brave warrior.

It's been a while since we recorded this episode, so I don't remember exactly what we found annoying about them. Even after Tanis moved to Solace he periodically returned to Qualinesti for a visit (indeed he first met Kitiara while returning from one of those visits.) And since Tanis met Kitiara nine years before the events of this book that means it's been no more than nine years since Laurana last saw Tanis. Since nine years really isn't that long for an elf, I think it makes sense that Laurana was excited rather than angry when she was reunited with Tanis here. You are absolutely correct though that Tanis was ghosting her which is a total garbage move on his part (and also completely idiotic given how awesome Laurana is.)
