That goal at the end of the first is a major back breaker. Goalie should have played the puck. Kidd wouldn’t have made that mistake. What am I doing with my life?

It looks like you do not know how to score easily. The best way to score is on the rush. While going to the opponents end, you come straight in where the post would be. For example, if your skater is a left handed shot and you are going downwards toward the opponent's end, you position yourself on the right post (imagine there are parallel lines running the length of the ice connecting your goal posts and the opponent's goal posts). You skate downwards and bring the puck to the left briefly and then just before you get to the goalie you move the puck right and shoot. Basically deking out the goalie. This method works very well, perhaps 80+% of the time.

Yeah some games I score more than others I guess. I wouldn't do the same goal over and over again thou, unless I was trying for a goal scoring record or something. 😉

i was playing on ALL STAR with COLORADO, DETROIT, PHILADELPHIA AND PITTSBURGH. ALL 82 GAMES, i have players stats from those teams, Lemieux was the best he finished 201 points, but best scorer was Lindros with 102 goals.

The offside call at 3:44 is really strange. Since the defense dumped the puck backwards into their own zone from in front of the blue line, would that not mean that the offense can touch the puck since they didn’t bring it over the line? Super unusual.

@@STATSF1SHYeah, looking at it a second time, it is offside. The first time I watched, it looked like Pittsburgh dumped the puck backwards into their own zone, in which case it would not have been offside m, but since the other team did, it is since the one guy never left the zone

Guess I'm gonna keep watching these until I'm forced to find a Genesis to purchase and this game. This and ESPN National Hockey Night are still my favorites.

Nice, you should definitely pick up a Genesis, so worth it. I might have tried ESPN Hockey way back when, but don't remember it. I'll have to pick it up again someday.

@STATSF1SH I'm pretty sure it was the first of the NHL series of games to feature the actual voices of real announcers with Gary Thorne and Bill Clement, as well as offer varying viewing angles for gameplay. I believe the original was released in '94 and I don't remember playing any of the ones that proceeded it. But man, that OG was me and my friends thing on weekends in 4th and 5th grade when we all stayed the night at someone's house. Tournaments nonstop from Friday after school until 9 a.m. Saturday morning with hand hockey going on on the side until a new tournament started. Then season mode which we would casually play between weekends after school for a few hours.. I miss the 90's lol

This took me back so hard. The amount of time I spent playing NHL 95 & NHL 96 on my Genesis back when I was a kid was wild. Loved these games so much. Keep it up! RIP Nordiques.

When I play this, I try to put as many players from the current roster as I can. So in a sense, kind of updated rosters. 😀

That first period goal was a thing of beauty. A spin then going aggressively to the goal to draw in the defense. Centering pass made it a textbook goal.
