@thedarkestblack10 ай бұрын
@thedarkestblack10 ай бұрын

Amanda. That's a matter of opinion, but I'm sure there's a more elegant way of singing it than this actress is (no offense, she has a lovely voice). Probably when singing you should pronounce it more like German and leave out those guttural "h" sounds.

Kim and Chris were separated during the Fall of Saigon, which occurred on April 29 into the early hours of April 30, 1975. That's when the last of the American troops were driven out of their stronghold (Saigon, later renamed Ho Chi Minh City after the takeover) by the North Vietnamese. In MISS SAIGON, the arrival and departure of the last helicopter that carries the remaining troops (plus the ambassador) is the basis of "Kim's Nightmare" in Act II, as she relives her last moments with Chris. In MISS SAIGON, Chri's friend John literally fights Chris (they get into a scuffle) and forces him into the last helicopter against his will. Chris had wanted to go outside the embassy walls to fetch Kim, but he was denied, since they had locked all the gates for good, despite the cries and pleas of thousands of South Vietnamese outside the walls, desperate to be airlifted out ("Take me with you! Take my children! I have a letter here! I helped the CIA! They'll kill who they find here! Don't leave us behind here!"). Everyone feared the North Vietnamese, because it meant certain death, especially if you were discovered to have aided (or fraternized with) the Americans during the war.
