Bernard Davey. Very sad what happened to him. A year or so after this broadcast he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and had to take early retirement.

Just a normal forecast no scare tactics no weather warnings for gale force winds in Scotland, today you would have a weather warning to stay indoors plus the presenters were lovely people very pleasant bill Giles not getting excited about gales in Scotland just normal weather for December nice comment at the end from the weather men

There were no gale warnings as the gales didn't reach the target for a weather warning. When gales reach 50 mph gusts, that is when a warning would have been issued even in 1991.

Oh, I didn't know they showed The Wrong Trousers on BBC1 that early. My family's tape was from, I think, the initial broadcast on BBC2.

Good point. I'd never noticed that before. From memory Lloyd (unlike others at STV) was not a qualified Meteorologist as such. He did go on to be an MSP for the SNP though.

The BBC was better back then. Christmas certainly was made more of an event on tv in those days i feel. I was 14 in 1992. God, feels like a long time ago now, and looks it too.

The date of this episode is from the 25th of December 1973 presented by Tony Blackburn and Noel Edmonds. It was originally transmitted at 2.15pm on BBC One just before the Queens Christmas message as it was simply called “The Queen”. The BBC sealed the same fate by showing it at 2.15pm once again on the 21st of December 1991 over on BBC One after the Christmas 1986 EastEnders where Den Watts gave his wife Angie a Christmas present she didn’t expect - divorce papers.
