I'd love to try some Clash but I'm not paying $25+ for a disc. When they get competitive, I'll give them a shot

I totally get that. After this round, I thought about putting with and throwing popcorns, but I can’t swing $15/base plastic putter. I can get Aviars for $8.99 😂

Great video! It can be hard to focus on upshots and approaches because it's so enticing to try and achieve big distance, but it really does help in the long run. I also like practicing upshots on courses, because it gives you a lot of variability.

this is similar to what bian weisman is teaching. one thing i would suggest is getting the hips loaded and unloaded. when you coil back/load up.. try to straighten your back leg, this will push your back hip up and fully load them, then shift weight and finish on the front leg,

Great video and the concept is right. Most late releases are due to turning too early. But imo it's not the arm but the shoulders that turn too early. What has helped me is actually speeding up my arm and getting it to come through first. Or at least that's how it feels so it can be confusing when you say too much arm. It's too much shoulders!
@jerkwagon
@jerkwagon Ай бұрын
people don understand that when you arm is straight, thats when the disc ejects from your hand.. so if you open up then you ejection direction is going to change..

i think the harder part for most people is learning where their line is off of their body. i found it helped a lot to imagine an arrow from my wrist through to my elbow. so instead of arbitrarily stepping back, i use my forearm to aim the shot. it also helps a lot because the angle of the forearm is also going to be my swing plane, so i can use that to prime my body for the follow through with a shadow swing along it. this approach enables me to aim at tight gaps through trees, where as what you are proposing moves poor aiming practice 6 inches off the center.

I agree with the idea of the hips coming through early causing "grip lock". I came to this realization a month or two ago. Once I started focusing on the timing of my elbow and hips I was able to significantly reduce the number of times I "grip locked" a throw. Keep up the great content!

today had my own ahah moment that made me believe brace is the most important part of the throw. Walking forward with your hips sideways pointing at the basket but shifting your front hip towards the basket. Overthrow has explained as tilt your hips upwards towards the basket but that never clicked where as moving forward thinking about the front hip leading as you move up did the trick. Feel like I grinded learning every other part of the throw but only till I figured out how to get a clean brace did everything actually start working! Going to the send it course tomorrow!

I like using over drivers for some approaches because they tend to be even more stable than slower discs, and hook up harder, and often get around corners better. Additionally, they can give you extra ground skips in some situations that might be more desirable to get movement under low ceilings. I've used an Innova Whippet (6 3 1 5) for both the harsher fade and ground skips.

If you don't have nose angle down you will never reliably flip the disc. If you throw nose up the flight is inherently more stable.
@GladiatorDiscGolf
@GladiatorDiscGolf Ай бұрын
Exactly right! But when learning a new shot, the nose might pop up a little bit because it's a new skill. If that happens, the effects are less detrimental with a putter or midrange than with a driver.
@Jason-Moon

Great comment. Nose angle might be the biggest struggle people have with hyzerflipping.

I am still building my form. What if I don’t always follow through? I feel like im still in the final part of the throw but my body doesn’t turn around when the disc leaves. I’m getting around 300-350ish max shots with almost all my discs.
@GladiatorDiscGolf
@GladiatorDiscGolf Ай бұрын
Follow through is a natural result of the throw. Sometimes you'll follow through a lot and other times not so much. That being said, you want to make sure your back foot isn't acting like a brake and scraping the ground.
