@alexdispatch10467 ай бұрын

@alexdispatch104611 ай бұрын
I honestly don’t know of any specific good course. I’ve never personally taken one. I think if you can get yourself in a company and get a truck and driver to work with, in a month you will get an idea how everything works. I’m not saying you will learn everything right away, but that’s how it goes with dispatching - you learn as you work more. The course will give you information only, you will need real life practice at the end of the day anyways, that’s why I don’t really think dispatching course will give you much.

I missed this comment somehow. Sorry. Anyway, at the time of employment I was physically located on the other side of the globe. I basically quit because I was missing out on day light. That’s pretty much the main reason. Right now, the market is not at its best, but it’s a good time to learn too. If you learn to dispatch in scarcity, you can guess how you do during abundance.

Hey Alex, thanks for the videos. I am starting out as a dispatcher. Are you getting loads in the current market? If so, how are the rates? Is flatbed work better than dry van at the moment?
@alexdispatch1046 Жыл бұрын
Not working currently, but the rates are quite low. Flatbeds are always slightly better than dry vans due to physical labor involved.

did you have to take any courses? if yeah, which ones do you recommend? I want to get started but do not know where to get started?
@alexdispatch1046 Жыл бұрын
My take advice is don’t take any courses. Just brush up on general things like how it works and how loads are moved and what players are in the game. The best knowledge comes from practice. Courses will not give you much honestly. I didn’t take any courses but I’ve seen guys who came to the industry after taking the course - it just made them think by the rules, which often don’t work. Just start working right away and in three months you will be pretty confident. It took me 6-7 months to get to the level as in the video.

TONU - when load is cancelled upon arrival of the truck. Staying there for another day would be layover. I'm pretty sure you know this by now if you're still doing the job :) You seem confident in your calls, but sometimes overly short on the conversation. Work on the relationship, it will turn out into more profit at the end, plus it makes the job easier. I guess it's different when this is done in the office with coworkers rather than at home. Great job otherwise! Try and upload a video of today's market, you've probably aged quite a bit in these past months 😆again, that's if you're still dispatching trucks. The current rates are driving more people out of business than bringing new ones in. This is a good thing for stabilizing the prices, but bad for the people who didn't know better, I guess.
@alexdispatch1046 Жыл бұрын
Yeah market these days not good at all. But flatbeds are still higher than vans I think. I left dispatching at the end of October. When you have to cover 6-7 trucks that do one day loads you kinda have to be fast with the talk, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t have good relationship with some of them, we both knew we had to be fast. And I mean generally it’s good for everyone: you all the essential qs and get to the point, if you’re interested you can then build further on. But you have the point, I used to do that. As for TONU, I guess didn’t pay attention to how I said it and by the way load can’t necessarily be cancelled upon arrival to qualify for TONU. And I mean it’s one of those things that kinda depends on the company and the brokers I’d say. I’ve had some really nice brokers that either gave me good TONU or found me another option, or we’re just super nice that we ended up converting totally different truck, so win win for all. Thanks for the comment, best of luck to all folks out there moving 🇺🇸

loved your videos for how mush time you are doing dispatching like after how mush time a person get to pro level
@alexdispatch1046 Жыл бұрын
Thanks! There’s no pro level I guess. It all depends on how many trucks you’re working with. I’d say you can become an independent dispatcher within couple months if you’re pretty active. If you stick to it for a whole year you’ll pretty much understand everything you need to understand. Doing it for a year will give you an idea about market fluctuations and the types of loads. Best way to learn as in anything is practice!
