Hello, Is it possible to remove the regulator, if the electric hood does not open? thx
@pbjrock2 жыл бұрын
I’ve never tried it with the roof up, but I don’t think you can do the job with it up, the window glass and regulator all are removed from the top- it seems impossible to do with the roof in the way ☹️

I just bought my 2005 Beetle. The previous owner said the window not rolling up was a one time fluke. She tricked me!! I am a senior citizen and can't afford to have my window fixed. A pox on her house. Guess I will get out the duct tape. Janean Killene from Crossville TN scammed me.

@pbjrock4 жыл бұрын
I’ve had to do it twice- the first time it pretty much took all afternoon, by the 2nd time I was pro and knocked it off in 2hrs.. there are some good videos on KZbin to do the job- however I found you don’t have to remove the glass from the regulator just pull it out in one piece.. (that way you don’t disturb the glass adjustment) Good luck👍 after its all done, try to remember to tap the windows down after raising them- my daughter has been doing it and so far no issues 🤞
@davejohnson61444 жыл бұрын
pbjrock thank you so much sir for replying. I appreciate ur advice! I watched a long old video on KZbin with a couple factory VW reps showing the whole removal and repair process but they said you needed a special VW tool to do this job . Is this true?
@pbjrock4 жыл бұрын
Dave Johnson that’s a Great video that shows the whole process, I didn’t use any special tools.. The special tool I think is for adjusting the glass… If you don’t take the glass off, you don’t have to adjust it - definitely use that video for reference.. there’s also a very good video on replacing the cable you should watch here kzbin.info/www/bejne/o6XQfoB-brBln6s

The chain should have some slack in it...not tight as it wears out the guide bar. You should be able to flip the guide bar upside down so it wears evenly.

Are there any parts available for this model? I see you post a parts # and diagram, but cant see the mod. #’s. Thanks!
@pbjrock4 жыл бұрын
Coach Dan, I was able to get diagrams from the Sears website - they might have very limited parts that we’re used for other saws in later years.. you’re pretty much on your own for the most part… I was able to rebuild the carburetor diaphragm with Parts I got online for the engine - check which engine is in your saw, and search for Parts for that specific engine.. that’s probably your best bet for getting Parts- 👍

I was at this game with my family. We left at half time. They instructed the Fordham fans to leave as well since all the roads in and our of West Point were being closed. We left about 5pm on what was normally a 45 minute drive home and arrived home at 2am! How Army put up 55 points is still beyond belief. Fordhams spread offense didn't work quite as well.

Glad I tripped over this video. Apparently I'm not the only person to find that problem. My bro inlaw's jeep would overheat in less than a mile, did everything, it was the exact same problem. The impeller on the water pump, the fins were GONE! Bearings + seal were still good. EZ way to investigate would be to take the small hose off the t-stat housing and run engine for a second, you 'should' get sprayed with coolant, so only do this on a cold engine. No spray = no impeller. Can't look in the radiator to watch coolant flow
@HarryHydro9 жыл бұрын
You convinced me. I have to take a look at this. My heater works great now, that it's not freezing, but it's not that warm when it is. I recently see the temperature gauge climbing on hot days. Water is flowing, but I think maybe not enough..Thanks for the encouragement.
@kevininidaho9 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your plain & simple video, pbj. That's pretty extreme corrosion of that impeller of yours. Mine's a '95 5.2L, & I'm dealing with overheating on the highway at high speeds when pulling even smaller trailers, which is usually indicative of a semi-clogged radiator (sediment buildup at the bottom, clogging some tubes), so I'm going to go ahead & replace the radiator, since it's 30 years old this year. And after watching your video, I'm going to consider the water pump as contributing to the problem as well. So thanks for the vid of your Jeep's old pump & its corroded-away impeller you posted. That helped.
@samalayork9 жыл бұрын
thanks for this useful video, same symtoms i have with my 87 jeep cherokee: no leaks,no noise, just overheating at city speeds, but good cooling in freeway, i removed the heater hose that comes from the water pump and with engine running the flow was as poor as taking a piss :/ . so in my doubt of the water pump failing, this video convinced me :) thanks #pbjrock
@pbjrock9 жыл бұрын
I hope this helps.. If your pump impeller is gone, just watch your radiator for clogs.. All the sediment ended up clogging my radiator... Hopefully it's just your pump, Good Luck!

Thanks so much! Going to change thermostat, rad cap, water pump all today because of overheating on the interstate and having to have the jeep towed twenty miles. The jeep doesn't really overheat unless it is super hot outside and the rpm gets up a alot like interstate driving so i've been worried I am pulling the pump or something for no reason and waste my time and money. But since you mentioned the heat/ac issue I think I am going to go ahead and check out my pump. Your pump proved that the professionals in the other videos on KZbin aren't necessarily correct when diagnosing water pump issues. No leak, No noise, doesn't really mean no problem. Only real way to find out is to look at it.

@jeepguy.. Coolant overflow is caused by overheating.. Or overfilling.. if this isn't happening because you just filled it then you need to go through the system... A working temp. Gauge is important , but you can get a cheep infer red hand held temp sensor and point it at different parts of the engine to get very accurate temps... You can start by checking/replacing the thermostat, and honestly a new waterpump isn't too expensive ($30ish) and not hard to replace...
@GeorgeJeepGuy11 жыл бұрын

Also have a 99 Cherokee Sport. If your engine is getting too hot your electric fan will start up fairly often, particularly when you're idling. Check your radiator fluid for corrosion and just pull the pump, I paid $36 at Autozone.
