Thank you for the video. It’s nice watching the process. I still feel better sending it to my suspension service center than doing it myself. Love your little tricks and practical methods. What I’d really like to know is how and where in the world did you learn how to do this ? Cause it’s impressive.

Great video man. Thanks. How much oil do I need for 2 forks? Is 1 liter enough? Thanks

haven't done a "newer" R6, wanted to see if there was anything weird about them... pretty straight forward / great video. Only caviot, Fun fact about fork oil, there's no "standard" for weight across brands, the weight is a comparison only within the brands lineup.... so changing brands is likely changing the weight, even if the number on the bottle is the same, so changing brands may require a re-tune also.

Damn fine video man! 1 good thing about the 2nd Gen ('03-'05) is that the air box and fuel tank were seperate. No need to disconnect lines, instead of syphoning gas, you could prop the gas tank from the pillion seat latch, it's not a fantastic solution, just unless major component word is needed it can come in handy. You can still do all this and then some without needed to mount the bike to a stand/wheel mount.

I’ve been trying to find one for weeks, does anyone know what the piece above the battery is that holds the seat in place is?
@jekpom
@jekpom 20 сағат бұрын
Late af but are you asking what piece holds the seat in place? There’s a hook that slides into a hole at the front of the seat, and two bolts on the end where you have to pull back the cushion that holds it in place.

Nice job on the video and walk through. Background music was very distracting though. Are those cap bolts really 36mm? On my 2007 Yamaha r6 they are a 41mm I believe.

Hi I have a question. Do you know how tight should I tighten the screws at the top?(I mean how many Nm) I only found in the manual how many Nm tighten the screws holding the wheel. It would help me a lot

Not sure if it’s just me but every time I watch a bike video, if there’s a track related sticker, I always catch it lol. Thanks for the how to. I was looking for an online service manual to follow and this will probably supplement that once I find a manual.

Best Thorough walk-thru of this fork seal job I have seen. Wish you had it up four years ago, when I last did this on an R6 - I saw here that there were a coupla steps I omitted completely, and I didn't make note of all the adjustment settings. I'm feeling much better about getting it Totally Right this time!👍👍👍

Awesome video man. I’m about to do this on my 2011 r6. One question, I’m looking for the torque spec for the pinch bolts holding the forks into the triple clamp but can’t find it anywhere? How did you clamp them back in, and is blue locktite necessary?
@solidhamster

17 ft-lbs is the spec for a 2003-2005, so it isn't much

Hey man, great video! I've worked on practically every part of my bike, besides the forks, and now in need of replacing the fork seals. This was definitely very informative. What was the white grease you were applying to the seals? Is that just any regular bike lubricant?
@ketchupmustardracing
@ketchupmustardracing 10 ай бұрын
Thank you sir! if you have any questions feel free to reach out! ..... as for the grease, I'm pretty sure its white lithium grease, its just a small layer to help the seal slide into the fork, and it helps with the initial first few miles of movement where it would otherwise be dry.

I would like to know how much cost for this labor fee in a local shop in Los Angeles. My R6 Is overdue fork maintenance and I need to get it done 😊
@ketchupmustardracing
@ketchupmustardracing 10 ай бұрын
I’m on the east coast, most of the time they charge more if you bring the entire bike. If you remove the forks and take just those to the shop, they can have it done in one to two days for a lower price; less work.

Isn’t bad to remove the fuel tank? I read somewhere it let’s air into the fuel lines. Correct me if I’m wrong please
@ketchupmustardracing
@ketchupmustardracing 11 ай бұрын
I’ve never heard of it being bad personally, but to rid the fuel lines/system of air bubbles; i always flip the key switch with the starter button on multiple times to prime the lines and push out any air. The short noise you hear from under the tank is the fuel pump priming the fuel injectors for startup, it starts right up with no issues for me if I make sure to prime it after I’ve removed the tank for service.
