Oh, Nick is absolutely terrified! He adores Charlie. He loves him. Charlie has changed his whole world, mostly for the better. Nick is used to being able to make everything better with a big cuddle. It's his go-to reaction when anything gets difficult. But here he knows 1, he can't cuddle Charlie right now, 2, even if he could, it's not enough. Season 3 is epic. It deals with incredibly difficult scenarios in such a beautiful, sensitive way without shying away from the scary bits.

It must be very, VERY weird for Tao. He's waking up to the fact that, as a straight boy, he's falling in love with his best friend, who he has clearly known since long before they transitioned. That must be terrifying, both from the point that that's a weird situation for anyone to find themselves in, but also that friendship survived Elle's transition so it clearly means a great deal to both of them. Throwing romance at it could risk it completely.

Kit Connor's acting through all 3 season is absolutely outstanding, but watch him in the scene in the dining hall, where he realises Charlie might be about to dump him. You can literally see his throat constrict and his heart start to race away. Phenomenal.

Charlie hasn't told his friends about Nick because he made Nick a promise to keep their relationship a secret. Telling them would be to "out" Nick, and he'd never, ever betray his confidence like that.

Anne’s daughter was named Michelle actually. Claudia represented her while Lestat was originally called Lestan after her husband Stan and Louis was Anne herself.

Great reaction. . .I'm not sure you know about how Hitchcock shot this film. It was based on a play, and Hitch shot it in just 10 long takes, each the length of a reel of film. He wanted to make it seem as if there were no edits, so it would resemble the experience of watching a live play. So, at the end of each reel of film, Hitchcock would focus in on something that filled the screen for a moment. Then he would resume with a new reel of film. This would make it appear that there were no edits or cuts. Also, think about the difficulty for the actors. They had to NOT make mistakes that would require another "take", otherwise that would ruin a whole reel of film. Just an extraordinary performance for all of the actors. One other thing, one of you asked why Jimmy Stewart didn't just go call the police? The reason is because that would have RUINED the movie! The police arriving, opening the chest and arresting those two wouldn't have been as dramatic or satisfying as that final scene with Jimmy Stewart coming back. Jimmy's fabulous final speech and realization of his influence was the perfect ending. Stewart gave a great performance of a man coming to grips with the whole situation. Hitchcock knew he needed that final scene and speech by Jimmy Stewart. I also LOVE that Jimmy's way of "calling" the police was to fire three shots into the darkness of the night. And the final three-shot of them sitting there with the sirens wailing was the PERFECT closing image.

Thank you so much for remembering that, Claudia was a child of 5 years old... So, many reactors to the show/movie seem upset that they have to keep aging her up to not seem like ....files... Aside from that - great reaction can't wait for the finale and of course next season...

People - Louis included - believe Lestat came to Paris to get his revenge. But let's look at the situation objectively. The old coven starts screaming into Lestat's head about how they're gonna kill Louis and Claudia in a big fancy spectacle on stage. He's very aware of how vicious these vampires are and how old many of them are. Lestat may be incredibly strong, but one against 14 is a lot to try and kill in a head-on rampage. When you can't beat 'em, you join 'em. But also...keep your friends close and your enemies closer - so you can study them from within. You guys seem to think Lestat and Armand are omnipotent because they're old, but that isn't the case. Lestat, who is likely much stronger than Armand, had to strain to get all those soldiers out of their house, and bled from his ears when he did it. Armand mind-fucking a hundred or so people in the theater - people who were insanely hyped up by the whole show and baying for blood - was a real feat of strength and aaying he should have done the same for Claudia is asking/expecting a bit much. Every time Lestat goes off script, it's to defend Louis's choices or to try and deflect some of the hostility onto himself. I think he was there solely to make sure Louis at least survived. Armand managed it, so Lestat wasn't necessary but he couldn't count on Armand (who had been such a pathetic wet blanket in the past that baby vamp Lestat manipulated him with ease and demonstrated that Armand could stand by and watch others do his dirty work for him). Poor Claudia was doomed from the start and Lestat knew it. He didn't want to save her, not really. He hasn't seen her with Madeline, so he still thinks of her as a crippled vampire who will eventually go into the fire anyway, just as Armand believes.

I agree and disagree with a few of your points. I agree, especially after episode 5 knowing vampires can communicate with each other across a vast distance that Louis came either cause he was summoned ( many forget he is in fact the co founder of the coven thus has equal power as Armand…this is a big point to recall) didn’t for revenge thus he simply would feel no need to allow the script to play out. My friend holding on this will only admit he changed his mind but does that sound like Lestat? No, he didn’t come will ill intentions he came to protect his family. Back to the Great Laws no one can kill a member of the coven without the coven leaders approval which means Claudia’s death came down to Armand vs Lestat and for someone who didn’t care if Claudia died he looked pretty purposely prevented from stopping it happening and then horrified when it did. For something rehearsed, why would he be shocked by this? The thefts….Santiago and the coven had plans I feel like will he fleshed out on S2. On stage he had already reconciled his endearing for Claudi despite their mutual hatred up until this point but it was born out of jealousy, pettiness and entirely too much in common marred with Louis’s lying. But in the flip side of it she was his blood, his actual daughter in ways Louis could never which is also why their dislike festered. So yes I agree Lestat didn’t come for punishment I hesitate to decree he cared nothing for Claudia or her fate. Oh and it’s canon Armand is farrrrrr stronger than Lestat at this point in time even with the extra blood in his system. The way things played out Armand and Lestat I would say have equal strength despite Lestats age.

Lestat was not at his full strength as it is only a few years since he was poisoned and had his throat slit. He had also been surviving for a time off of rats, not humans. So the coven vampires and Armand were able to control him a great deal. He fought against that control during the trial and broke away a few times but you could see him swaying and getting faint at times.

Anne and Stan Rice's daughter was named Michele, not Claudia. Anne has said she didn't realize Claudia was because of Michele until after the book was written (yes, she was processing grief through writing it).

This entire episode was top tier, but I have some comments that may rub some people the wrong way. I know everybody likes to defend Claudia, but she is not the innocent little girl everyone keep trying to make her out to be. She is a full blooded manipulative adult in the body of a young girl. I think because people see her as that little girl nobody wants her to take any accountability for the things that she do. When big bad dad, Lestat is the only one who really puts his foot down, and doesn't take any foolishness from her; everyone gets angry with Lestat, but he's being a responsible parent by giving her limitations. Lestat taught her how to be a fierce predator because he knew she would be at a disadvantage because of her small size. He knew that she would never be able to develop into her full potential, and that she would always potentially be a victim. Even though he said some things to her out of anger and frustration with her overall behavior and attitude, he did not lie. Lastat told her and Louis, that Paris was not a safe place, that the other vampires were vicious, they would rip her to shreds, because you are built like a bird, and you were a mistake. Yes, I agree those words are harsh and cruel, but nonetheless, he did not lie, and we see what happened. If only they had listen to Lastat Claudia would still be alive. Louis should really take the blame, because a lot of Claudia's hateful feelings towards Lestat, are based off of the lies that Louis allowed her to believe around the way that she was made. Louis just wanted to be looked at as the good parent and Lestat more of the bad parent, and that's not the case, I think Lestat in a lot of ways got the short end of the stick. He was basically made to feel as an outcast in his own home, let's not forget it was Lastat's house, Louis moved in with him. The fight that we saw in the season one, it was red from Claudia's diaries, everyone assumed it was exactly what happened be she wrote it. In season 2 we can clearly see, that not everything Claudia wrote down was the truth. When she wrote that she did not dream, Louis recalled seeing her dreaming, so that was proven to be a lie. Claudia is an unreliable writer, even in her writings, she didn't absolutely record things correctly. I understand how she felt seeing her dad Louis dropped, of course, any child would feel a certain way about seeing one parent getting hurt by another parent. She still didn't have full contexts of the entire dynamic between Louis and Lastat's romantic relationship. Louis had been hurting the Lastat for years emotionally, which arguably is even more damaging than physically, and the one time that things got physical between them and Lastat even in that held back for a long time. Louis just kept pushing him and hurting verbally, until he did physically fight back, and because Louis got hurt, everybody wanted to turn against Lestat as if he was the bad guy. Everyone has the right to defend themselves and Lastat was under verbal and emotional attack.

These are simply facts so I’m not sure why someone would feel some type of at unless they don’t like truths 🤷🏿♀️ as I said up top; Claudia was a survivor and she wasn’t unafraid to use manipulation to her advantage especially when it came to Louis staying in Paris. I don’t hate or judge her for it but to pretend as if she isn’t a predator is to remove her own agency and that’s what I want people to realize in analyzing these characters. It’s not a simple matter of right vs wrong or playing out all the subtext it’s about the varying degrees of humanity and the lack of it. Her fathers taught her how ti appreciate humanity in Louis but how to make it your bi**** in Lestat. Only viewing her the eyes of a victim removes all growth in that. She never had a choice yes, but she never wallowed in that. She was forward always which is what tended up earning the respect of Lestat because she was exactly like her father figure but being so alike they never could appreciate that within the other until it was too late. She looked to Lestat in the end because she knew despite everything he would protect her if he could have

@@hobichuu I agree that my comment will definitely have some controversy, but that's life. Everything that I said is a fact, and I even said, in that in my comment, I know some people may have an issue with what I'm saying. I understand and agree that the way in which, Lastat says some things, it was very harsh, but the man didn't lie. Louis and Claudia just chose not to believe it, and they thought that he was just saying things to keep them from being able to do what they wanted to do. In the end, we see Claudia is dead, and had they listened to the Lastat and stayed away from Paris, then she will still be alive. The main issue is not as much Lastat as it is Louis, and I love Louis but Louis was the catalyst for most of the issues. Yes, let's Lastat force Louis, or rather trapped him at a low point in his life to convince him to change into a vampire, and he really wasn't ready, and he wasn't mentally prepared for the loss of his family because he didn't give him full contacts of what being a vampire would eentail. Because Lastat was so lonely and desperately wanted someone for himself, so yes, in that Lastat that was very selfish. Reason for making Claudia was selfish too, he wanted Louis to say with him and be happy. Lastat knew it was wrong, but he did it anyway. Those are the places where Lestat is to blame mostly, but he really did try his best to make Louis happy, and he tried to give him anything and everything he wanted.

Since you wanna die on that hill everything about the trial shows Louis not only made Claudia’s hell but lied to her about said inception facilitating her hatred for Lestat and adoration of him based of a ssemic untruth. This show isn’t about who has the moral high ground, it’s about generational trauma and how that affects one’s behavior. And since you’re still upset about the hand choking how sigh you reconcile Louis doing the SAME thing when she tried to force Lestat death. Louis isn’t a saint. Lestat isn’t a saint. Armand is the devil and Claudia was trying to survive

The saying goes, " There are three sides to every story: Yours, Theirs and the Truth." I keep thinking how Louis, who only fed on cats and rats suddenly has the strength of 1000 men towards Lestat in that brawl. Does that mean Louis and Claudia have that ancient power too and if so shouldn't Claudia been able to fight Lestat? By Lestat claiming he was being hunted by Louis, isn't he also admitting to reading Louis' thoughts aka befriending a mortal before revealing his nature?

Louis doesn't have Lestat's physical strength, and Claudia has even less due to her size (and being a girl - you can't deny some aspects of sex). That's why it's obvious that Lestat is restraining himself - he could have killed Louis in a heartbeat and Claudia too - grabbing her by the neck and slamming her into a wall isn't a big deal, physically speaking, though everyone was on high emotion and no sense at that point. When a person is turned into a vampire, they get a filtered, weaker version of their maker's strength. Feeding on humans would make it stronger over time as the vampire blood begins to replicate itself within the new host body. Feeding on other animals instead would delay that progress. If Claudia had been a full adult, she would probably have been stronger than Louis during his "only rats" period. Lestat also drank some of Armand's blood, and that gives an instant boost. Then he got all the upgrades when he drank from Akasha (which he left out of his history overview during the trial). Lestat doesn't care about the Rules but one Rule does make sense no matter how much of a rebel Lestat is. Turning a child into a vampire is a really bad idea, for all the reasons Lestat listed. Having some mortal acquaintences isn't a big deal (especially if you plan on turning them), so hanging out with Louis isn't an issue. Revealing that you are a vampire but not turning them is the problem, especially if the Coven Master doesn't want anyone new turned. They would have had to kill Madeline if she had freaked out and gone babbling to everyone mortal about vampires and such but Armand gave his permission - he just couldn't do the deed himself.

Yes, Louis is weakened by his diet, but he’s not a weak vampire by any means. He holds back a lot until he snaps. Claudia is strong for her size and age. That being said, they would never be stronger than Lestat. You’ll learn the real why Lestat is so strong as a fledgling next season. Lestat loves them, so they can hurt him mentally and emotionally enough to temporarily weaken him physically. Vampires pretending to be human is not breaking the laws. “The Great Laws” state that vampires aren’t supposed to reveal their nature to humans unless you plan on turning the human. Lestat fell fatally in love with Louis at first sight, and was planning on make Louis his companion. That’s allowed, per The Great Laws.

This episode made me feel so horrible for Louis, and it definitely humanized Lestat too cause lowkey I hated Lestat at first lol. Its just so tragic and heartbreaking all around. I don't say it often but this was such a beautiful masterpiece. Louis is a beautiful character, Jacob Anderson and Sam Reid both killed it. And the way Delainey delivered "can I cry and say that I'm sorry too!" Fuck that hurts 🤕

They stole the lens from the Paris observatory to install in the stage skylight. I think many forget that after the events of New Orleans in 1940, Lestat is still recovering, so he is in a weakened state. The coven f9rced his return to Paris for that "trial." That is why Lestat went off-script several times to the chagrin of Santiago. I don't believe Lestat was on-board with the shenanigans on the stage.

So happy to see this reaction soon after the last one - and I absolutely agree that EVERYONE, both in front of and behind the camera, did an amazing job with this episode! Even aside from the tragic passing of Claudia and Madeleine (who deserved to live their forever life in contentment and freedom), there were heartbreaking and dramatic moments throughout this ep that were either damning, insightful or painful to hear, and they all left me heart-sore by the end credits! I felt so many emotions!! Contempt for the coven and the irrepressibly impressive Santiago as he struggled to keep the emotional trainwreck that is Lestat de Lioncourt, on track! - amusement at the animated retelling of their relationship timeline while simultaneously being saddened that such real feelings were being treated as a means of public entertainment and personal vendetta - the parental urge to whisk the girls away from this den of vipers before they strike their final blow - satisfaction at Lestat's evisceration of the disgusting deserter - frustration at Armand's apparent lack of power - gratitude for Louis' overdue admission of how Claudia's turning really went down, only to be heartbroken when we see him doubling down on his false claim when asked for the truth by Claudia at the trial and we're reminded that SHE never learned the truth her own 'vampiric birth' - anger, relief, and an endless litany of 'if onlys' at hearing both Lestat and Louis finally say things that are both cathartic and revelatory, while being achingly aware that communication could've saved so much misery - and finally, undying appreciation for how the direction, score, writing and performances on this show are top tier, and deserving of every accolade and praise possible! Thanks guys, for not making us wait for this ep and sharing your thoughts - looking forward to you finale vid now! :)

One of the takeaways I had from season 1 was how unsafe women are even when having the dark gift. For Claudia to reveal herself to Madeline by saving her and for Madeline to not be afraid was so powerful. Found safety with each other. A full consent to the dark gift, no withholding...

I really enjoy your reactions! I have to disagree with one thing, though -- you compared Louis with his "face down in the coffin" remark to Lestat -- Lestat never treated Louis like a piece of meat. He adored him, romanced him. He was never crude or violent. I am SO looking forward to your reaction to the end of this season! It's a BEAST!!

So grateful to finally have this episode's reaction, and yes, Albert, everything really IS getting more intense with each instalment! 😅 I think it's a testament to how well these characters draw us in that, even when we've been shown evidence of their ability to manipulate, lie, sacrifice others or let pride dictate their actions, we WANT to believe there's at least some truth in what they're telling us happened in any given situation! To feel disappointed in ones we root for, and almost sympathetic towards those we have thought irredeemable, is part of why I love this show so much - we're watching immortal beings long for human attachments and fall prey to human vices, while navigating the grim prospect of knowing their longevity puts immeasurable strain of any relationship that they try to nurture! Spellbinding and tragic, in equal measure! Loved your discussions, as always, and I can't wait to hear your thoughts on the remaining chapters! 💚💙

43:00 that's a super unfair take to absolve lestat while criticizing armand and louis for the exact same things. a false, unreliable narrator is NOT a liar. all of these characters see events through the coloured lenses of their trauma. all of them are false, unreliable narrators. yes, that includes lestat's perspective on things in the book as well. if louis is a false narrator in the ivtw book because of his lapse in memory and the trauma he endured, what's making lestat a more reliable one in his book? certainly not because he appears the most in the chronicle. think claudia's diaries are somehow the authoritative truth because they're written corroboration? nope, think again. even she is biased. she's biased towards louis for their shared ethnicity. she's also a vat of constant teenage hormonal chemicals that exaggerates and exacerbates everything.

like, may I remind you that lestat has a track record of lying by omission? could've told louis about his cloud gift but he didn't. could've told louis about the sun the night he turned louis, or stopped louis from running out into the daylight but again, he didn't.

When the Talamasca guy says " if I could swap bodies with you...." , it's an easter egg- a nod to The Tale of the Body Thief- book 4. 😊 Louis can block his mind to Armand. I have been wondering about Daniel and maybe his Parkinsons is preventing anyone from reading him. And surely Rashid either is a vampire and blocking or the Talamasca has given him something so he can't be read. Just guessing 😂 Armand and Louis are in their Sub/Dom era because that is what Armand is used to. 😊 Armand was indoctrinated into the lifestyle by his maker , Marius , so being submissive is part of his nature. And Louis has slipped back to his pimp days . 🤔 It works for them.

If you went to London and found Nandos to be the only spicy food then you somehow missed the hundreds of Indian, Thai, and Korean restaurants not to mention Mexican ones!!! Which part of London did you go to???

You can legally leave home at 16 in the UK, the parent does have a responsibility to make sure you are safe up until 18 but in Darcy’s case because she is living with her Nan the courts would not make Darcy move back home.

You legally cannot leave home at 16 years old. Darcy was living with Tara's family and then she moved in with her gran - so she's living with adults who can look after her. I'm a social worker and realistically a social worker would get involved if there is no other adult who can look after her.

9 is the highest score in GSCE. I forget what the equivalent scale is in the US, but obviously 9 is an A. Don't quote me, also as an American, but I believe I saw that a 5 was a passing grade - I'm guessing that would be the equivalent of a C in the US.

Lovely reaction. Just 1 bit of critique though. Baz, I get it, we all love this film but it would be nice if you didn't spoil it for him. You brought up the Swan Lake connection right before Swan Lake plays, you pointed out the Blue Girl's line BEFORE she says it. You spoiled that there will be a flash forward EVEN BEFORE THE REACTION BEGINS. Please, let it all play out, let him experience the film the way we did. Let him figure things out on his own. Do not ruin the experience for him & for those watching his reaction.
