Thank you so much I have had this problem for so long 🥲 does it need to mod podge or can varnish be used instead? I use acrylic varnish, and I don't know how the water seal may react with varnish. Does a specific type of water seal have to be used?

Just an fyi…be sure that adorable kitty doesn’t lick the oil paint on your palette. I once left mine unattended and my cat licked the paint and got very sick. It’s quite toxic to animals.

2:42 1 coat Extra Heavy Gel Gloss, 2 coats Mod Lodge Lastly a final varnish coat to make the sculpture waterproof.

It’s called acrylic water seal by Bosny. It’s available in a can and as a spray. I bought it from our local hardware store.

Do you have any tips to seal the water drain? How to seal the inside part of the drain? I'm afraid I wouldn't seal that part well enough...

You mean the hole on the bottom of the pot? Just use the acrylic water seal as usual with the brush that can touch the sides of the hole

How long does each layer of water proof sealant take to dry?

On the label, I think it says 24-48 hours to cure. But I apply a second layer as soon as the first one feels dry to the touch. 😅 Usually it would just take 30 minutes.

This is not food-safe. It can be used for mugs but just ornamental or for display.

2 layers modpodge, 3-4 layers acrylic water seal

If you were to paint them, would you apply the modpodge on top of the paint? Or would you first do the 2 coats of modpodge and paint on top of that, before sealing it with the Water Seal?

No need for Mod Podge if you’re gonna paint on them. Clay, acrylic, water seal.
