Though Pachelbel composed this Chaconne for organ (as the pianoforte did not yet exist), I *firmly* believe that were he to hear Vadim Chaimovich’s performance of this piece on piano, he would say, “YES! YES! *THAT* is what I mean!” The piano is uniquely well suited with its dampers and ability to hold notes to express the passion *and* restraint of Pachelbel’s 22 sophisticated, probably late-stage variations consummately well. Would that it were possible! I think it would make the composer exuberant!

So, is it possible to have this improvisation in MIDI file?

We had this piece played at our wedding, and the college chapel we’d been choir members at also sang Wir Danken Dir Gott from the same cantata.

Totally superb performance, this goes in to "Favorites". It's the amazing finger-work that allows this fine interpretation. Thank you! (from Canada)

I greatly enjoyed and appreciated the notes inegales in the opening section: the late Dr John Byrt, regarded as a world authority on it all, was one of my teachers

Beautiful playing and interpretation. Why though is everything sounding one step lower (F Minor instead of G minor)- is it the tuning or the recording?
