"Cyber War", as someone that served in the military during the "Cold War" it's the same game on a different battlefield. Good luck out there!

I live in Pittsburgh, PA and used to sell the insurance products that American Water offers that you're talking about, and though they are the one' s that put their name on it and offer it, they do not themselves provide the coverage. Coverage was provided by Home Serve USA. I sold this coverage not only for American Water in several states, but for any utility company that contracted with us in the US and Canada. I was astonished when I became an insurance agent at the data-mined personal information companies have access to, and how one uses it to make decisions about coverage and rates. I learned for example that there are algorithms that can predict with 98% accuracy that someone will get a divorce in 6 months. Uh oh, better raise the car insurance rates because in 6 months when she leaves her husband, she's more likely to drive erratically and get into an accident. It even knows who you're cheating with, and who you are likely to marry next. Maybe they won't renew your home owners insurance because when your wife leaves you, we know you'll start drinking again. We know you smoke cigarettes, so you'll be likely to fall asleep smoking and cause a fire Things like that. After awhile, I never went back to work. Knowing the end result of us all giving up our privacy to big data, and seeing where all of that ends up, caused me an existential and moral crisis which led to a psychiatric hospitalization. If you have any questions that you think I might be able to answer, reply to my comment and I'll get you my details. Just came across your show today and subscribed, awesome show!

As a newbie studying into this, networking is my least favourite one because it doesn't lead anywhere....and this "storm" is proving my point. An IP address/packet can be easily faked, but with that said. I think that whoever's doing it is a very smart newbie because.....with fake traffic, you are confusing everyone in the field, which clearly has been working. Not just that, they could potentially send malware through those fake IPs without using the attacker's actual IP address packet????????🤔🤔🤔 So as I see it, yous need programmers and malware analysis to take a closer look at this (LOVE) word. I think that (LOVE) string could potentially lead somewhere.

Have also been observing the same thing for past several months, albeit on much smaller scale, but exactly what has been described, especially the traffic (or spoofed traffic) from Brazil, Chile, etc. - tons of SYN flood like attacks and port 443 - enough to temporarily cripple some smaller VPS servers. Past several months have seen it ramp up and down, and the past few days, it's increased in intensity again and with more specificity. I had some odd connections in that it appeared that some of these peak waves have also corresponded to bursts of criminal credit card fraud gangs and email bombs looking to cover their tracks and or overwhelm services - coincidence? Really glad to hear some professionals having eyes on this and discussing it. Fascinating! Happy to share the IP's I have collected and firewalled to drop traffic.

What's the big deal? It's somebody with a botnet. Obviously somebody is either testing the capability of the botnet, or it is used as a cover for another attack. Then creating a needle in a haystack scenario.

Re: Vulnerabilities I am not a huge fan of VMware I prefer Proxmox but you should have broken out issues by what things they developed vs. what they bundle from other sources. I.e. SSH or Node2js, etc. Those things are not in their control. And how quickly they react is important.

People behind WEF now planning a major financial crash (like 2008) , global cyber attack & power outage worldwide during this Easter 29-31 March known as “3 days of darkness”. MI6 & CIA are also behind this. This is to take away our rights. Share this quick to avert it esp if u know ppl in cyber security. Their last attack was successfully thwarted thanks to global community. Thank you for the efforts. 🙏
