@badboytommy187 The latest firmware has addressed every issue that I have, and added many new features. I'm very pleased with it now, just so shame it took almost 2 years to get there.

Hi! The refresh rate on this monocle is kinda slow, but it is still plenty enough to see them when they are moving.

@taggartlittle570 THOR 5 XD 🤯🤯🤯!!! THAT'S AWESOME! Ihad a THOR 4 384 1.25-5X that I harvested some raccoon on public lands with using a Foxcon Patriot electronic caller and my Benjamin Bulldog .357. I tried a few times to call in yotes on public lands, but they were much smarter than I am, and I was unsuccessful. I also have a THOR 4 640 2.5-25x that I have not taken any game with yet. That's one hell of a tune on that Panthera, a yote don't stand a chance out to 100 yards and beyond! I hunt public lands at Berlin every season, as it's right between home and work.

@@n2shooter I sure hope the xd is what they are advertising! The coyotes are really tough to hunt. That’s one of the things I love about it. Frustrating as hell but the first time you catch sight of one in the thermal it gets ya hooked!!

Thanks a bunch! I have only one problem with the scope, that was associated with trying to load up an older custom reticle, but other than that, I've been killing a ton of pest with the ATN X-SIGHT 5 5-25x LRF!

I have been mostly happy since the last firmware update. I currently have an RMA in process, because some kinda way many of my factory reticles are missing, and ones I create and load in are only available if I load them from my phone app. My biggest gripe is that it took over a year for ATN to actually deliver all of the features they promised upon release.

Even with the latest firmware, the RAV is not sensitive enough, even when I try and calibrate it to my airgun. My main reason for trying out RAV, was it was the only way to get 240fps video recording, but ATN now allows you to select 240fps recording and record manually, so I am happy with that! The latest firmware has rectified nearly all of my issues. I will try and do a follow-up review in the next few weeks.

The first two were Hybrids, and the last follow up shot was a JSB Hades. I switched the ammo profiles in my scope, so I know the zero should have been good. Maybe I bumped the hell out of my barrel and didn't notice it. Go figure!3

@@n2shooter well, I did end up purchasing an ATN X-Sight 5 LRF (5x-25). I would have bought one months ago, but was seeing too much indication that they released it before the firmware was ready. Now normally for a scope that wouldn't be a big deal, but for a scope like the 5th gen X-Sight with built in LRF that can make your PoA the PoI, software is critical obviously. I recommended to them, if they ever want to push this to the next level (instead of 1,000 yard, go to 1,500 yard or so). They need to interface with a portable weather station. I have a 1 mile gun I built years ago (w/ .338 Lapua Magnum) and I have a ballistics app on my phone and it gets all the environmental info from BlueTooth to my Kestrel 4500BT. It also takes in a lot more info about my custom loads (using 300 grain Nossler Accubond-Longrange), barrel, scope/reticle, and some advanced info (like using G7 BC instead of G1). There are so many more variables involved past 1,000 yards, that you really don't want to be typing in as they change and are better suited to be streamed as messages to the ballistics app. Man if, they do this, they can essentially make a scope to sell to the military that would allow 1 man sniper teams where it makes sense to. To think that you could potentially have a scope that determines the perfect PoA (that equals the PoI) on a moving target, with wind, at 1,500 yards... I suggested to them 2 new slogans... ATN we make your PoA = PoI and ATN, we turn your 2 man sniper team into a 1 man sniper team, lol

@@Hangs4Fun I have no idea why 🤷‍♀. What kind of long range info do you want to know? Like zoomed in long range in the various resolutions? I know the new 240fps looks much better that I could have expected, especially since the resolution is reduced below 1080p.

I think the Hades expand much quicker than most slugs, except for the FX Hybrids.

I have been unable to use RAV Calibration with my X-SIGHT 5 while using my FX Maverick VP .30cal. I have got it to work by banging on my scope, and when it did record 240fps video, but only for one second. 👹

@@n2shooter I checked with ATN and they replier "Hello, we had one other customer recently mention this to us and we are waiting to hear back from our development team on it. I will get you and update when I can." I will update my answer once I got. Thank you.

I updated it to the latest firmware version. But before that, I did have to send my scope in to get the updated to the previous version, and when that was done, I think they sent me a new scope, as the serial numbers were not the same.

I just use the ATN old QD mounts. $100.

They are not, but just barely.

Yeah, you lose a ton of clarity when you use the 120fps mode, as that does not record is true 4K. I will do some more real-world videos in 4K as pesting season is upon us.

I have had much better success with the latest 709 firmware. Holds zero, ballistic calculator works great. I have not tried RAV as of yet though, as I really would like to get some 240fps video. Unfortunately, the worst recording quality is when using 120fps mode, especially when you zoom in.

The mounts are okay. If you mount with the same torque, you can get 1-2 MOA repeatability most of the time. Good enough for groundhog and coyote, but not sure about anything smaller without checking zero. I use them on airguns, so I can't vouch for them on real steel.

Again, in my sticky posted comment, all of my issues were resolved after I returned my device for repair. The Wraith may be a good choice if you don't want the fabulous Ballistics Calculator feature, which I depend on heavily!

Yeah, ATN screwed up on this. You lose a ton of detail in the higher frame rate modes because the sensor has to do line skipping instead of down scaling because the sensor can't be read fast enough. Could you send me a link to that 53 scope?

Well, it has improved with the update last week, ( vs 706), but I am not sure if it's up to the competition now. Now that the Arken Zulus, and other scopes are shipping with integrated Laser Rangefinders and Ballistic Calculators, ATN has lost its marketing edge.

I was going to get the new ATN Thor 5 XD, but I changed my mind when I was reviewing the differences in thermal performance from the newer 12um sensors to the older 17um sensors. The older sensors have lower thermal noise levels that the new ones. And another falsehood they told is the 240fps RAV video can only records for half a second and it does this at 1920x1440, then records the rest of the video at 30fps, regardless of which resolution you have selected.

This is a digital scope. The highest fidelity is when it's zoomed out all the way. Additionally, you will have more fidelity when you are in the 4K 30 fps resolution vs the 1080p 120 fps mode. I believe this scope uses a bilinear filtering algorithm vs the nearest neighbor technique used in the X-SIGHT 4K Pro scope. They could have excellent quality if they allowed 1080p images at 30p, because then they could just linearly down scale. But what they do to increase the frame rate, is use a line skipping algorithm before they use bilinear filtering, which gives a double hit to the sharpness.

I agree completely! However, I have had great success after Isent my scope back in for repair and firmware upgrade, which addressed most all of my issues. I'm currently using this scope during small game season, and I hope to pop it back on my crossbow for some deer hunting later this month.
