It's fascinating how unprepared journalists were back then. You have the four Beatles there, in the midst of their youth, fame and creative prowess, some historians later would kill fora chance like that, they dream of a time machine to go back to that time and properly interview them.

“They (the Beatles) rather like the fact that he (their manager, Brian Epstein) has a Bentley and a Jaguar and a colored man servant. They like the kind of riches and the glamour that his life seems to have....” Yeah, well --- that, and the sailors and other military men that Brian Epstein would pick up on the London streets and bring back to his Georgian-style townhouse in Mayfair for S/M sex in which they would beat him almost to death during each sexual encounter. As we know, one of them eventually killed him in 1967 by choking him during rough sex, as described by both Albert Goldman in his John Lennon biography, and by Bob Spitz in his Beatles biography -- where Brian Epstein was found the next morning "with a completely white face and blue lips" --- clear signs not of "a drug overdose" (accidental or otherwise) that the Beatles Organization always used as a cover story to explain his death -- but of obvious asphyxiation during rough sex. And btw: did she say "...and a colored man servant"?? Ah, 1966. Such enlightened, progressive times, indeed.

The deejay character in the Queen biopic "Bohemian Rhapsody" is Kenny Everett. He says something like "ah, forbidden fruit, gimme" when the band hands him an acetate of the as-yet unreleased Bohemian Rhapsody.

Tiny Tim was big stuff in the States that spring after his "Laugh-In" and "Tonight Show" TV appearances. I wonder if he ever was aware of just how aware the Beatles were of him at this point. Despite the kitsch of "Tiptoe Thru The Tulips," Paul is correct here (I think it's Paul speaking) in saying that Tiny Tim was actually a very good singer of the old vaudeville style Paul was so partial too.

Were these Beatles Shea tracks taken from the raw in-line recordings or are they the Ron Furmanek mixes from the early 90’s? They sound real good.
