I don't see the Phillies as the Braves of the past 2 years. I see this Phillies team as more like the 2022 Mets, or better yet, the 2000 Yankees. They started really hot, but the players started to get really banged up and they slowed significantly. Just like the 2022 Mets and 2000 Yankees did, albeit the Mets slowed down mid August, while the Phillies and 2000 Yankees started to slow down approaching July. So, the Phillies kind of limped into the post season this year. I'm convinced if the Mets had the by in 2022, they'd get swept unless the Phillies choked it away like the 2000 A's did against the Yanks. They had 0 momentum going into the playoffs. The Dodgers are probably closer to the Braves. But, there is a similarity that I'm picking up on... most teams start to dial it back towards the end of the season once the division is clinched. It makes sense, it is what teams have been doing for years to preserve their stars, but I think that might be adding to it. And teams can't just flip a switch, like you said If we are going to do this type of playoff format you can't go from playing noncompetitive baseball have 5-6 days off and just turn on "playoff mode". It was different back before this wildcard format because every team was doing the same thing unless the division came down to the wire. If we are going to have this type of playoff format, I think divisions need to go away. Division winning used to be the barrier for entry into the playoffs, now, let's be real, it doesn't mean anything. How many division winners got knocked out in the Wild Card round? I'm a Met fan and I'm of the opinion that if we are going to keep this divisional structure, teams 3rd place in their division should be nowhere near the playoffs. The Braves and the Mets this year should be watching the NLDS from their couch. But if you get rid of the Divisions and just picked the top 6 teams, it might be more legit. I also think they should have more teams so we don't have nearly half of all of MLB in the playoffs... It's literally 40% which is ridiculous. Maybe, also give the top 2 teams a choice as to whether or not they want to accept the by or play in the 1st round. Most will probably accept the time off, but you never know. If that happens, then there needs to be reseeding. The 1 seed can't play the 6 seed first round. Or maybe it's 1v2, 3v4 and 5v6 and the winner of 1v2 gets a by while waiting for 3/4 v 5/6.

The play calling hinders our offense as well so those 4 things.
