Brilliant and moving. A pianist of grace and power but of beauty of expression. A tremendous sense of the narrative and flow of the music...

Martha wants to be left alone and does not like questions. I fully understand her, she want to relax and think about something else. Her ears need peace.

Fantastic performance. But I have heard him play pure gibberish before when he froze up and forgot what he was supposed to be playing.

❤ i believe this was at the time of his last world tour. I heard him play at the new Seattle Opera House in 1964. I shall never forget the thrill of having been there.😊

Martha played this concerto once again in September 2024. It was amazing to see her re-visit it. She arrived on stage with a score and a page-turner. She changed a few things, and she played beautifully. The second movement, listened to live, was even more amazing than usual. Nobody plays it like Martha.

Wow! Astounding! So proud to share his Cuban heritage (and to have studied with two Cuban concert artist/pedagogues (that were pupils of the Lhevinnes)). His recording of the Bach-Busoni Chaconne immediately motivated me to learn and program that magnificent transcription!

A truly outstanding performance is no longer the performer playing, but the work itself revealing itself through the performer. In such a performance, the performer's mission is to deliver the work to the divine spirit that created it. I myself can do nothing; it is the Spirit that gave birth to the work that does the work. In this performance of Tannhäuser, Jorge Bolet is doing just that. The result is a piano version of Tannhäuser that stands out from all others.

Why didn't Cortot teach Clara Haskil? Why didn't he go to her concerts? Cortot, the great teacher, knew that solitude was Clara's most important teacher. Because he knew that deep sadness is the source of music. But did Clara know Cortot's feelings? I'm sure she didn't. That's why it's sad. And the reason why Clara's sound was uniquely beautiful was because she didn't know Cortot's feelings, and that was her sadness. It's the same as Mozart's sadness.
