Think back to OnLive cloud streaming for SL when it was offered for $10 a month prior to its acquisition by Sony (I think?). I predict that within 10 years won't have any locally installed games and that all of it will eventually be delivered this way. No one wants to deal with the expense of hardware ownership and developers don't want to publish for many platforms all at once. We all know the myriad of issues people have just getting things running smoothly in SL that has been going on since the platform was birthed. So I see cloud streaming as an inevitability going forward. Performance will be a problem though and LL will have to introduce some restrictions such as forced lower density models and lower resolution textures. If creators want to be eligible to have their stuff streamed with the physical characteristics they intended, they will need to learn to optimize their models to appear better with lower densities and lower resolution textures.

This is very good news for those unable to afford the expensive hardware, and those forced to leave SL because they could not upgrade their PCs. With Philip back, I really hope to see SL continue moving in the right direction, allowing accessibility to more people. IMO, accessibility is the very key to SL's success.

I'm not sure I like that news... I mean... I try to limit the use of a browser more and more, lately, using in-game Steam browser in games like Warframe and most of my time by now is in Unreal Engine 5 and Discord. I should verify which specs my laptop needs to run this browser-based viewer but I'm pretty sure there's no way I can run them both at once with all the rest without losing performance drastically and ruining the whole experience. I will definitely keep an eye on the evolution of this new thing but I believe LindenLab should invest much more in a new Marketing & Communication strategy because the old one had Second Life's full potential undeveloped where it counts most: popularity of the platform Second Life is. There was a time Second Life was the top new trend worldwide and it needs to hit those big numbers again in order to stay relevant in the current Metaverse scenario, in which Second Life should be the standard bar for any competition, a standard which is impossible for them to reach based on Second life long history and current top-notch quality of the content and the wide richness of the experiences SL provides by now.

Waterhorse used to be neck and neck on par quality with Teegle, but they've been left in the dust both because Teegle releases and produces more options, and because Teegle has a lot more community and vendor support. Not sure what happened and went wrong, but I used to have Waterhorses. I deleted my animesh ones when doing an inventory clean up and organization though. They just never kept up with Teegle, which was unfortunate.

I use Firestorm. I'm curious as to why I would want to not download a viewer. So I tried Second Life in my browser (Firefox 133.0.3 (64 bit)) for 10 minutes. It seemed to work well enough during the limited trial If I ran Second Life on my browser I could eliminate the Firestorm client and gain 637 Mb. But with a1TB of SSD I don't think that matters. And both of my gaming computers are more than robust enough to run Second Life. I'm not sure why LL is doing this project, but if it benefits my Second Life I'm all for it

Well, it’s good for chat. As for the rest, it has quite a long way to go. I changed to a different outfit and it was a fail. Movement was somewhat strange, and the camera position was always from the side instead of the back during walking. Could change the camera when standing but walking took it back to the side. I will probably just use it if I want to chat with someone and my computer isn’t handy. For now, it’s still in Beta. Thanks for making this video. Very much appreciate your work. 😊

its so wild to me that there are people complaining about the minimum requirements change. a PC that exceeds recommended can be had for less than $500 a little over $500 if you absolutely have zero PC peripherals (keyboard, mouse, monitor, etc.) actually no excuse not to upgrade. (note it may be more if you are not willing to build it your self, not being able is not an excuse unless you don't have at least 1 functional hand connected to a functional arm)

There was no investigation outcome news. They haven't said diddly about what the outcome of what their investigation actually was. The only thing they have done is require toddlers to wear bras and underwear. Way to sexualize and objectify toddler avatars Linden Labs! They don't think about how this will impact the actual mesh clothing appearance that people spend their real life dollars purchasing in world, and how much LESS we will be spending on those items, how this will impact skin creators, clothing creators, consumers, and how they are basically beginning the wipeout of child avs on the grid. There are plenty of people who ONLY use SL for the non-adult creative outlet and innocence aspects, I myself just downgraded my account from paying for 1/2 a sim of mainland to just having my basic premium because of this issue. That means LL is making 720 real life dollars less per year now from me just in mainland teir alone, that doesn't account for how much less Linden I am buying per month and how much less shopping I am doing as of the initial announcement of this stupid problem that they can't use level headedness to figure out. I've been an active user who has been paying in thousands of dollars to SL over the years since 2006. SL has been my place of peace and escape from the real world, and being a child avatar it means I am NOT harassed by endless numbers of people asking for s*x or worse as I have experienced on my adult avatar which I spend very little on with regard to time or money. The fallout from this is going to be HUGE, it's going to send the normal people NOT looking for the adult side of SL away in droves, and SL will wholly become the nasty cesspool of hoe's and s*xual deviants it has already had for years. There will no longer be any modicum of modesty (which is already HARD to find in SL now), and normality with regular people not looking for the adult side of the SL world. SL will basically become the place with that sick deviant reputation that it has already spent decades trying to combat in the media. No child av wants to wear bras and panties under their swimsuits or summer clothes in Second life. I've decided that I'll just make my own permanent bom layer items that will basically look like pasties to cover n*pple area crotch and butt crack and I fully intend to make these "modesty patches" specifically in text say "Linden Labs makes me wear this and is forcing the s*xualization and objectification of child avatars" so if any stupid creep or jerk who hates kid avs is actually taking the time to derender my MESH clothing to see what is on my skin they'll see that instead of a bra and underwear that stick out of my mesh clothing. Why would we ever buy another scrap of clothing for our avatars if we basically have to feel like WE are the creeps and perverts, when it is US who are being singled out as a community and punished. This is an over-reaching issue on the part of LL. For the love of god, why the hell did they not just require that crotches and bum cracks look flat like barbie dolls without detail? If there are no details in those areas we look like the "dolls" we really are! Toddlers don't need to be anatomically correct when most of the time we are already covered by our MESH clothing that became so forward thinking and important for ALL of SL years ago. Now we can't even wear them because some dumb f*ck caused a sh*tload of problems for an entire community. Prosecute, scrutinize and criminalize the GUILTY parties, NOT the innocent ones!

I am quite disturbed by how quickly LL was willing to punish a whole community of people who like to RP in a virtual world where we can be anything. We can be a dinosaur, a donkey, a bird, a robot, a plain box. Anything. But as soon as we want to RP as a toddler, everyone goes bananas. We're blacklisted, chastised, made fun of, banned, and in my opinion, poorly treated. There should be none of this. When you did your investigation, all you had to say was: We found the claims to be false. Period. Full stop. There was no need to do this. You have impacted so many people in a negative way. You said, "let the community" police the issue. Well, what you did is enabled people who hate toddlers or "young looking" avatars to feel empowered to just say "you're gone." Friends of mine are banned from stores, regions, and entire estates. For what? For doing what the virtual world is for - role playing and having fun. You made us all look like criminals. You made bashing child avatars normal again, when it took years to make it acceptable to be seen in public as a child. All the families you are hurting are not happy. All the ones who do not break the law or participate in gross, disgusting behavior are being punished. A lot of us are afraid to even leave our home regions. You caused this. Creators of skins and bodies are being punished. There was no need of any of this, because as you said, your investigation turned up nothing. It was just some troll who hates child avatars who wanted to cause trouble. And, you fell for it. You really ought be ashamed of how you handled this. That, in my opinion, is the nicest way I can put it. I stand with all the others who say: Punish the right people. We should be able to wear the required modesty layers as a defense against predators if we feel the need - but forcing a toddler to wear a bra is insanity. Any toddler I know (and I know a lot) alphas out their body areas or wears leggings, underwear, and clothing that is appropriate. There are a very small number of sickos, and yet you chose impose these ridiculous rules on everyone. My hypothesis is that you are now just doing something that covers you legally because of some idiot's claims. Here's a novel idea: GO AFTER THE DISGUSTING PERVERTS and leave us alone. Just think about this for a moment: If a person with curly hair robs a bank, does that mean all people with curly hair should be sent to prison? That was the logic here, and it's a dangerous way of thinking. Please fix this. You can simply make one statement: If you are caught doing these disgusting things, you will be removed from in-world. Period. Let the community thrive and let us be who we want to be. *sighs*

Putting privacy layers on child avatar is NOT going to stop age rp! It will go on and all the twisted and perverted people will have to do is just put on their old child bodies and engage in their perverted pedophilic mindset. Forcing child avatars who are not into such disgusting rp wear forever painted on undies or face get banned from SL is not only stupid but also outrageous! The people who brought this down upon the heads of child avatar communities are the ones who should be dealt with and permanently banned from SL INCLUDING the powers that be! Banning child avatars from A rated sims is also a waste of time. This type of rp can easily take place on any sim where privacy mode is enabled. Go after the ones who broke the rules, not the ones who abide by the rules!
