What is the difference between a multiband compressor and a multiband EQ?

(MB compressors VS dynamic EQs) Short answer: They’re basically the same. Longer answer: The mb compressor typically does more surgical dynamic shaping, and the dynamic eq typically does more surgical frequency band manipulation, ie filter slopes, different curves etc. However, the more modern tools have features that in many ways overlap. Hey Subphotic, thank you sooo much man for doing all this research and for the shout out!! And just like you I haven’t been able to get the F buttons to work in a stable way, but I still have just learned some very useful tips from you re. assigning other buttons to control plugins….this was a real gem and will help to speed up my workflow👌. And I was grateful for your parting words of advice, re. not allowing these things to hinder creativity (I paraphrase) but never a truer word spoken. Awesome! Yeah it really depends on the needs. For strictly boom bap hiphop I like the send efx practically non existent. And I love to break that rule of thumb from time to time

It's so stupid that your song gets saved in 17 different places and the cache builds up to 30 gig, and you can still delete the song cause its not where you are. Crazy. I have lost master songs from my upcoming album because I thought the song was where I had put it.

Bro, i ask you do a full beat from scratch in logic using stock everything. And then do the mix and mastering. External samples may come clean and well tweaked, but if you use stock samples alot will feel relatable and will help producers in many situations

Yes I did! A video is coming about it shortly. For my case, in Logic 11, it seems like a sad story, but it’s definately doable with some caveats. I’ll tag u once it’s up😀

Hey, thanks! It’s basically an input for an external preamplifier, such as the UA 4-710D or any other preamp that has optical out. This way you can get some more inputs.

I use reference tracks. Load an instance of Metric A/B, and 4 to 5 songs in it. I'm lucky I got lots of cool beats from TPC producers, and I listen to them comparing with my beat. Use it less these days, but always nice with a sanity check, and level check too.

I'm using SSL native G3, a 3 band compressor, sounds to me to be a 3 band Bus Compressor. This is on my 2 bus in Studio One 6. Elsewhere, I'm using the SSL X-DynEQ.

where do you think it is noticable to have the better A/D conversion? and the transfer speed of Thunderbolt 3 over 2? I have an option to buy a twin MKII quad for a really good price and I don't think I would ever hit the limit where I would notice the transfer speed difference upgrading from arturia mini fuse 4

Twin MK2 is a no-brainer. I have the MK2 and the Apollo X6. The dofference is minimal👍

Hey, cheers for watching and commenting😀 So in this case I used automation and alternatively clip gain. Another way to go is using a clipper plugin, such as this one kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3WzqYyFebJkhtUsi=zgSUSHz4ec0jX4dr where you can reign in the dynamics without loosing punch, but at the cost of «clean» depending on how far you push it. However, of course it’s better to get a good balance in the mix, but here I didn’t have that opportunity. Thanks again for chiming in, all the best🙌😀

PS: The length knob is actually dynamic. Each character (luft, nightshade etc) has its own default length, and it multiplies as you turn the knob.
